Have you ever played PUBG: Battlegrounds?

Its the new name for Player Unknown Battle Ground, yay!.

In all seriousness have you played this game? Need some feedback as I am thinking of buying. Its popular on PC and I think it used to be very popular on xbox due to its very high quality graphics and smooth performance on xbox and xbox team paid for exclusivity for a period think. Best game quality, only playable on Xbox I think someone mention some time ago Idk. Its on PS too now though!

Anyhow wondering is it even worth a buy? Is it a fully paid game or do you still needs to pay battlepass for skin and unlockables? Never played the game and wondering if I should make the plunge. The reason is my colleagues invited me to join for a tournament between companies in the area. I am planning to buy the steam version but opinions from console users welcomed as well. I heard lots of great reviews from xbox players, just the kind of quality exclusive games they get hyped for apparently.

PUBG is now mostly play by non gamers and kids on mobile.

its very popular in here in asia specially for casuals. but have zero interest in it.

I heard it's still buggy as all Hell.

Aside from that, I don't really have a detailed opinion on this. Generally not interested in multiplayer games. I do think Battle Royale was always the natural evolution of the old arena shooters like Quake and Unreal Tournament, so I do understand the appeal.

@tdkmillsy: do you still need to buy battlepass for cosmetics and unlockables?

Lot of my friends and cousin childrens who never played a single game in life love playing PUBG and Free fire.

@madrocketeer: I greatly enjoys APEX so hope anyone who played both can give some feedback.

Nah I don't like Battle royale... at all. It's endlessly running around an empty map, finding RNG guns. Engaging in gunfights that are over way too quick.

I like teambased online games, where you play a certain 'role' (a medic, a scout, a machine gunner).

Stuff like Battlefield, Rising Storm, Red Orchestra or Day of Infamy.

But still it’s kinda a law here that when you disapprove of a particular game, it’s usually a great game. Your views on many games are as interesting as watching paint dry.

No its not great game. not in any shape or form. its broken mess and most casual game of all time even more so than COD.

Can play SFV for that, but reduce the contact time down to 120 seconds.

To answer the topic, no. After years of development and insane amount of money earned, the game still looks, feels and plays like an alpha. I don't support crap and sincerely hope the developer has no further success.

Fun game and can be annoying too :D , graphics are OK but not jaw dropping. I bought it for $30 and have played it since year one. It can be boring if you just sit and hide all the time and avoid all combat (what some people do).

Compared to Apex, it is less sci-fi than that and the maps are larger (in general). More traditional weapons.

Still technical glitches from time to time though

Was playing it daily for a few months when it was free last year, I still play now and then. It's a good game if you're into tactical team based squad shooters. Movements are sort of like SOCOM in a battle royale setting.

Nyet. Lost my interest in this kind of game long ago. I'm sure I'd have some fun, but I've got other types of games I'd much rather spend my time on

I tried it a couple of times, but it was always clunky and was against much more polished games, such as Fortnite and Overwatch. I didn't play much of those games, but the contrast in "playability" was huge. Now it competes with COD warzone and I would imagine Warzone is a much more polished and complete game.

Never played it myself not because it’s a battle royal game but just that the game itself didn’t look appealing to me. Would much rather play Apex, Warzone, or Fortnite.

No interest whatsoever in the genre and of course, PUBG is no exception. For what is worth, i think many non casual players prefer this game over Fortnite or even Free Fire, but yeah ... is still a Battle Royal.

It sucks. I desperately wanted to like it. I tried it on PS5 and Series X, it just sucks. Something about the way it looks and feels. Like the animation, movement, colors, just the whole damn thing needs entirely rebuilt from the ground up. It's frequently on GP, PS Now, sale, so I'd try it when it's free. I can't recommend it.

Clunky is one of the best words to describe PUBG.

Well decided to purchase the game and join the team. the tourney will be held in september and hope I am not much of a noob by then, its just an excuse for networking anyway.

I fired it up couple weeks back, thought whatever issues it had on XB1 must be ironed out by now, with the Series X updates and time for devs to make it run smoother and fact it's so popular, that it should safe to assume it is worth trying... nope, OMG it looked so bad I quit immediately in the match-making lobby as random textures would go from blur to settling on some super low quality texture, uninstalled that shit. Sorry, that's like F2P level awful.

I like when people try to pass off THEIR perspective as “fact”. Like no one else is allowed to have a different opinion. That goes around here a lot in SW.

Honestly, I love PUBG. Or used to love, right now I have no idea if it's still good. The slow paced, more strategic approach, is highly rewarding.

Just stopped because it annoys me playing too much of a single game, specially online games, I feel like I'm wasting time I could be using to play a new game.

PUBG is and always has been extremely cumbersome and clunky. The game isn't bad... other than the gameplay.. lol.

Played it like one time. Seemed ok.

I play it and enjoy it. I like the slightly more realistic combat compared to games like Apex. Never purchased any kind of DLC, and I never play in a squad, only solo.

Yeah that's how I feel. I also like how important sound is in this game. Wearing a good pair of headphones is actually really helpful.

There is no game with more tension or suspense. My hands would get sweaty and I would have to take a dump anytime I was down to the last 10 players. There’s no movie game that’ll do that to you. The game is clunky, buggy, but fantastic at the same time. It’s also likely a money laundering tool. It’s way past it’s prime, but should be experienced by everyone.

PUBG hitting the mainstream is responsible for the BR craze. Warzone, Apex, Fortnite and the many other clones are around because of PUBG. (well H1Z1, but that studio didn’t take things seriously enough at the time…)

@goldenelementxl: One of my favourite memories ever in gaming was me in the last two, having the other player in sight, realising I had absolutely no ammo and rushing towards him with a frying pan. That game goes from extremely tense to absolutely hilarious in a second.

Thank you for your opinion about a game you've never played. It's a really good game, but it's both MP and not casual. Not for you.

I've put more than a 1000 hours into PUBG so obviously I like it. It's a very unrefined product, still buggy after all these years. And the graphics are definitely dated. Some textures look right out of a 2005 game. Gunplay is mediocre at best.

That said, it's very fun if you're into Battle Royale games that focus on tactics and approach rather than fast-paced movement (Apex). I've mostly played PUBG with friends, which greatly enhances the experience, especially if you take into consideration all the dumb and funny shit that sometimes occurs in the game.

Apex in contrast is a lot more polished and well-designed BR but it lacks the slow burning and adventurous trip to the top 10 that PUBG offers.

it was the first of it's kind so yeah I tried it. but turns out it isn't that good and the battle royale concept is most crap. If you want a shooter BR apex is probably the top option and overall spellbreak is surprisingly fun. but regardless BRs are still just not great games
