Bejeweled 3 because every session is different. It's a skill based game even though it's a somewhat simple game. Halo 3 as well.

I've had Aliens Fireteam Elite installed on my console since it came out 2½ years ago and I still go into it every so often to play a few rounds here and there. Though it is starting to get played less and less, but I'm still playing it.

Chrono Trigger. Always feels fun/good to play. Also just looks and sounds really good as well.

Some others would be:

- Final Fight

- Final Fantasy III/VI

- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Turtles in Time

- Contra III: The Alien Wars

- Sparkster

- Mega Man 2 and X

- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

- Super Mario World

- Super Castlevania IV and Symphony of the Night

- Super Metroid

Mortal Kombat PS3 version. Enjoyed the story version. I also never get bored with solo fights. It's still installed on my PS3.

Any of the Skate games for me, or Gears of War Horde mode. Spent countless hours playing those, and still enjoy them.

Terraria is my first pick, and it's crazy there is still free content being added to that game 10+ years later.

Runner ups:

- Final Fantasy Tactics

- Castlevania symphony of the night

- Dark Souls

Resident evil 4. I must have played that game a dozen times. The remake isn't as fun as the og in my opinion, but still a good time.

I've played warcraft 3 and starcraft 2 both campaigns at least 5 times. Great story, and really engaging.

That's about it, though nowadays I prioritize new games over old ones.

Definitely Warcraft 3. I used to play Warcraft 3 4v4s all the time and it never got boring. It's so unpredictable - you never know what's going to happen. Also the hero mechanic makes it unlike any other strategy game. It's barrels of fun in every game.

yeah the mario formula never gets old. Be it 2D, 3D or 2.5D. Nintendo mastered giving the player an item for one level, letting him have fun with it and taking it away the next level to replace it with something new.

Streets of rage 2 (Mega Drive) have finished it at least a couple a hundred times.

Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast) have completed it at least a dozen times, likely more.

Sega Rally (Sega Saturn) 4 cars and 4 tracks and around a thousand hours played.

Shining Force 2 (Mega Drive) beat it at least 20 times.

There are many others but this will do.

Most factory or city builders.

  • Cities: Skylines
  • Factorio
  • Satisfactory

The combination of what is essentially endless gameplay, my constant compulsion to restart a game even after dozens of hours because things didn't turn out right, and the ability to nitpick and perfect your creation leads to me getting an infinite amount of play time out of these games.

Also WoW, game hasn't always been perfect but I've been playing it (with breaks here and there) more or less non-stop since 2004.

That's a good one, mostly because it's fun for 20 minutes or 2 hours haha. You can just kind of pick up and play it and easily get into it. It doesn't hurt Aliens is one of my favorite creative IP's; I just love the sci-fi horror but also the corporate aspect of Weyland-Yutani and such.

The game has certainly come a long way, too! Was always fun but it sure had some issues initially.

I'm waiting for them to add a filter though to the matchmaking option; I don't like some of the added gameplay modes or maps and I want to be able to que for specific modes or maps.

DBZ Tenkaichi 3 for the PS2. We used to have huge parties where everyone would swap between beer pong, shooting pool, and Tenkaichi tournaments and it was a blast. Over a decade later my (much smaller group) of friends will still turn on the PS2 and pull a "pick up those sticks boy, let's go" and go head to head

Bloodborne.

Other than Bloodborne I really love 4x sim/grand strategy games as those are timesinks. Europa Universalis or Civillization series on PC especially EU3 or Civ5. On Console its either Romance of The 3 Kingdoms 11 or Nobunaga's Ambition for the PS2. Heck I emulated both games on my S23.

I'm sure it's a boring answer but Ocarina of Time is a game I can watch or play a trillion zillion times and still enjoy. I've beaten most every glitchless challenge there is and still I always dive in at least a couple times a year for a quick run. Even if some elements have aged there's a really timeless quality to it's pacing, puzzles, music, and art that just makes it really feel like I could never look at it and be bored. Even bits that haven't aged well like the graphics and controls have a certain of-the-time charm that doesn't make them feel stale or tiresome.

Factorio

Close to 1800 hours and I have yet to run out of goals. I still want to go for a 10k sci/min factory before the expansion comes out. Then I want to do it all again with the changes the expansion brings. Plus there are tons of mods that fundamentally change how the game is played. Factorio is endlessly enjoyable to me.

Ace Combat 6

Resident Evil 2 original

Tomb Raider 1

Actually, the real answer for me, is that I'm a retro gamer, but it's mainly PS2 games that I don't get on with. I find the graphics jarring, and I don't know if it's the CPU, but there's something slow about PS2 games. I played Wipeout, and as a futuristic racer was expecting to be blown away like F-Zero GX and it's just embarrassing compared.

FF 7/8/9 were my childhood, and I can play them infinitely. Other than those, I sunk hours into Ocarina of Time. There are probably many more, but those are my standouts.

super mario world is a good shout. timeless.

curse of monkey island (98) too. i can still go back, play the og secret of monkey island 1 & 2 and have loads of fun but, unlike the pixelated graphics of those, the illustrated art style in curse never ages

@Pedro: yeah i have the remakes of 1 & 2, still 2d, and all the telltale ones which are 3d. much prefer the 2d ones inc. curse. the only 3d one i like is return to monkey island, and i'm attributing that to og lucasarts legend ron gilbert's return to game director

@Macutchi: yeah something about illustrated/hand-drawn visuals (especially backgrounds) that really make for an immersive, beautiful experience that ages incredibly well (insofar it doesn't really age any more than a nice painting ages).

I think the recent Obsidian role-playing games made good use of this, with games like Tyranny and Pillars of Eternity.

Disco Elysium is another good example iirc.
