Phantom Fury no longer releasing on GoG? Only Steam? Why is this happening??

Would like to see a discussion on this subject. I don’t understand this development whatsoever.

And frankly, if it’s true, which from what I’ve read it mostly is……why would a game not release on a DRM free platform.

Apologies for not including more background information. Phantom fury is the sequel to Ion Fury, and it’s made by 3D Realms, the same developer of Duke Nukem.

This is the first time I'm hearing about Phantom Fury coming to GoG, been awhile since I log-in. I've went to GoG forums and didn't find anything relating to Phantom Fury. I don't bother with GoG forums as its not as fluid as Steam is. I would recommend making a thread over there and see what's the deal with Phantom Fury.

I'm with you as I would rather buy my games on GoG if they're available but if not, I'm cool with Steam (same for EGS when that game isn't coming to Steam) but yeah, I was gonna get Phantom Fury on Steam during a big sale due to the mixed reviews.

Thanks. Yeah, that's shitty if true. Plenty of people prefer GoG, for which I definitely don't blame them.

I just finished Aftershock, was good. Has anyone even played Phantom Fury? I was going to get it but then I saw some of the player reviews.

That sucks, but it sounds like this is happening because the game didn't turn out well. Probably a rocky development, and they are just releasing what they have in hopes of recouping some loses.

TBH I was waiting and waiting for the game because I’m subscribed and it’s also on my GOG wishlist. I only found out about the news because I looked on steam accidentally to see how the reviews were doing.

Personally, I feel as if some people may have missed the announcement the game no longer is going to be on GoG.

Honestly mixed is the right word for the game. It has a ton of good ideas, but then doesn't execute on them. Here is my brief review from my steam page:

Partway between a masterpiece and a disaster. Phantom Fury is a game that will forever make me feel lukewarm. HL1 level design with HL2 enemy encounters. But the game far from makes up for its high ambitions.

If you really want a singleplayer shooter though, you might get the game as there is still good in it.

It seems like 3D realms/slipgate ironworks likes to hire a bunch of contractors and then fire those again before launch.

Ion Fury wasn't very good, so I have little to no interest.

Aesthetically it looked terrific, gameplay wise, compared to stuff you can play instead, Duke3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior etc... etc.. etc... it's an imitation that falls apart on closer inspection. Nowhere near the quality of these games.
