@moistcarrot: It's like we're marching towards 1983 all over again.
Poor quality games (buggy) with limited features are the reason of the '83 crash.
But, it is interesting that Aspyr did this - they are the ones who hat KOTOR taken from them due to low quality.
So issue is mostly matchmaking and sever related. Not enough servers to start. Hope that gets figured out. Seems they need to fix team balance issue to prevent lopsided team issues as well.

Yeah I've got no why they were given this to port, unless they were working on it alongside that KOTOR remake or something.

The KOTOR remake is vapor ware and we should want it to be because if this half hearted turd of a development cycle is real they are gonna damage the legacy of a classic game.
I've never been happy with any of the ports Aspyr has been making. Lots of avoidable mistakes.
Now that you mention it, their KOTOR ports to mobile have been met with a lot of criticism (missing content, unstable framerate) as well. There was even a lawsuit about that missing content.
Now, their Tomb Raider ports have been met with great success, but seemingly this is less of an internal Aspyr thing and this was more something that a paid mod team did, in contract for Aspyr.

This is correct. Although their name is attached it's fans who have been working on it for years.
Still a few issues, namely the OG uses water as a visual indicator (e.g. it will pull you) and some sequences are much less impactful due to the lighting system, but otherwise excellent.
The "modern controls" are apparently bad as well, but I'm not an idiot who wants to break the game so completely ignored them.

Yeah seems like the servers are stressed. They gotta fix fast, game relies on online play. I'm hearing BF1 runs good but BF2 is laggy mess.
They only issue here is server issues.. they should have made sure it could handle the load beforehand though, these are some of the most popular StarWars games ever made.
Not surprising, but it's still borderline offensive the disrespect these corporate assholes show for video game culture and history (I know, I know...).
These are cherished, beloved games that many people enjoyed as children and want to share with their friends and family and revisit online. But these jerks basically take what I consider to be priceless treasures and do the bare minimum to get them to sort-of-but-not-really run on modern systems and leave it at that.
What should be a momentous occasion to revisit these games is instead a cheap cash-grab. I get it, they're a business, but you don't need to be solely occupied with profit; you can make a good product and profit.
Shame!
@sargentd: Yeah, I felt the online issue needed to be singled out, as calling it a broken unfinished mess gives the impression the whole package is a wreck. But at same time, like you point out, game is pretty worthless without its online component.
Somewhat funny the reaction like Aspyr are hacks stemming from this, comes on the heels of the praise given to Tomb Raider I-III Remastered.

Yeah from what I'm hearing the game is great, but the servers are messed up. They probably didn't expect so many people day 1.. they should have known better. I got a good friend that hardly ever plays video games, hardly ever and he bought a used Xbox 1 because he heard SW BF was being re released lol...
Yeah, gonna wait. Disappointing as Aspyr did better with past Star Wars efforts (Best is probably Force Unleashed Wii/PS2 on Switch, second being Jedi Academy).
At least Nightdive gave us Dark Forces Remastered, which even on Switch is fantastic.

I know Switch users are use to being ripped off.
But Dark Forces is a 4.5 hour game that has doubled (in Quake I/II case trebled) in price.
That's not worth praising either. It's actually very cynical and shit value for money compared to everything they have done prior.
Seems to start as soon as they became bros with Atari, what a coincidence.
Amazing.

1. Modern gaming... gaming is dead... yada yada
2. Should've just paid the modders to make this game for you
Should have been a remake instead of a remaster in my opinion. Glad I didn’t buy such crap.
They did remake it.
