the additional ssd

being able to buy a ssd from xbox and just stick it in the back of the console.

i hate replacing the hhd or ssd in the original spot because it waste what came with the console.

if you put a 2tb in the ps 5 you get 2tb instead 2tb + the 825gig ssd.

were xbox if you buy a 1t you end up with 2 tb. because of the ssd already inside.

what sony should of done is add a second bay on the ps5 for either your ps4 hhd or if you replaced it with a 2.5 ssd be able to stick that in the ps5. just copy and paste the games your using on to ps5 ssd. or leaving there when you play ps4 games.

granted i could buy a external hdd for my ps5 and copy and paste the games im using in the ps5 ssd. which i will be doing. faster than re down loading the game off the internet.

While its a good addition for the Series X, the cost (like the system) is still unknown. Either way, you can always use a traditional external to move games back and fort across any of these systems as a cheaper alternative.

Are you sure the ps5 doesn't have an additional ssd port? I thought the 825gb was built in(non-removable?)

I like the airflow solution.

Already set up for natural convection. The fan will be very effective. I bet it's pretty quiet even under load, and damn near silent at idle.

Loudest part of the system is probably the disc drive.

i think so mark did say the ssd has to be either just as fast or the new 4.0 7 gigs per second which will be out later this year.

Do you install it horizontally or vertically if its horizontal or vertical? 😛

I wonder if MS/Seagate can make it cheap by keeping most of the ssd controller inside the console while memory stick are just nand non controller parts.

I like that it plays 360 and OGXBox games. Hopefully compatibility continues to expand.

I think some of these things change in a systems life so I'm not worried about this yet. Let's be real, most systems aren't worth the purchase in their first year so my ssd probably won't need extra space for a while.

I'm confused what are you trying to say? Both consoles have expandable memory. If you buy a 1tb SSD it will add up to 1.825TB in the PS5, likewise with XSX.

you think this is something protoss would say. you think he would admit what he thinks the series x is better for? he is a sony fanboy and im more of just a sony fan. i love sony but im not blinded to see other console offerings as well. i had a 360 but this gen was the first gen i owned one console.

not if you take there ssd out of the ps5 and add a 2.5 4.0 7gigs per second one.

unless im wrong and there ssd in built in the system but mark talked about which ssd would work in the ps5.

I like the backwards compatibility. Gives you something to play when all you do is wait for the next big game.

i know im happy with 825 gigs. im using a 500 gig original ps4 still. i had a pro with 1t but it died on me last month and rather wait for the ps5 than to spend my money fixing it.

but im going to buy a external hhd to copy and paste games back and forth. the ssd 4.0 7gig per second ssd is going to be expensive when it comes out this year.

For me, it's all about the games and there isn't a reason for me to go out and purchase a XSeX. I bought a 360 over a PS3 because of Mass Effect. There isn't as similar game for Xbox that will get me to make that jump. I'll grab a PS5 some time next year.

Nice too we can still use older external HDD to play BC games, should help keep the SSD clear for next gen games.

i am completely the opposite.

my big criticism of both the PS5 and XSX is the non replaceable internal SSD.

my extra criticsm of the XSX in particular is the vita memory card setup. a custom SSD is just BS.

at least the PS5 allows the use of standard (albeit expensive for now) high speed NVME drives to expand the storage (i dont recall any talk of this disabling the internal SSD in the PS5).

I love the setup in the PS3 and 4. industry standard HDD that is easy to replace in case of failure. like HDDs, SSDs fail. they have a shelf life.

according to DF the XSX at least does write a ton of data to the SSD when quickly switching between games (seriously not good and needs to be improved very quickly). thats a lot of writes. over the life of the consoles that is going to exact a toll. its a shame that entire consoles will have to go to landfill over something that should be easy to replace by the user.

both camps really should have used standard NVME drives. hopefully this is something that can be rectified in a future hardware revision.
