Would you upgrade from a Switch Lite to the Switch OLED?

If I ever need to replace my original Switch I'll pick up a OLED model, but I already have a switch lite for portable gaming.

I won't be "upgrading" from the launch Switch to the OLED Switch.

The only logical reason to get the Switch OLED is if you have NEVER owned a Switch. Anyone else that gets this is.....interesting. (or very rich)

I would never have bought a Lite, as I want to be able to play on a TV.

But I do have the regular switch tho. Collecting dust.

Switch is for Nintendo games so until Breath of the Wild 2 comes out I see no point in buying a new Switch with a better Screen just so it can sit in my dock and collect dust for a year.

I will be getting a Steam Deck that is for sure... I have a 100+ games on Steam and the Steam Deck is the power of a One S in your hands meaning Doom Eternal won't look like this:

With the Steam deck announced I don’t see why anyone would be interested in a Switch anymore. The difference in value is enormous.

@zerothehero: You are aware the OLED isn't an upgrade right? Its for those who never own a Switch up to this point is what is really for. I have a Launch Switch and I did consider getting it due to my Switch is showing its ware/tares but still functional. Now had you ask will I switch (no pun intended) to Steam Desk, my answer would probably be maybe.

For me it isn't enough of an upgrade if they used an upscaler in the hardware it would make me think about it.

Nah... Not interested so much in an oled switch. Mine works fine and the library has been a little thin lately. Happy sticking where I am... For now.

The reason I didn't go for the lite and went for the Switch 2.0 instead is battery life.

the newer Switch model has an enhanced chip and a larger battery, so it'll last longer than the Switch lite.

OLED model will have this chip too, and the same or even better battery life.

The pro though for the lite model and handheld users: the system is lighter and smaller, so will feel more comfortable for long play sessions.

True, it'll be funny to compare DOOM on Switch and DOOM on Steam deck.

Considering Switch has kept its value all these years and I can easily sell it, the $50 is worth it. Nicer and bigger screen, better kickstand, better audio, etc. It's nice.

I mostly play in handheld with the HORI split pad pro... so this upgrade made sense for me. Im glad all the controllers and original dock still work for this. I been meaning to get another dock for a while but they were hard to get at MSRP.

No - I don't do handheld gaming.

At least not with the Switch because it has poor ergonomics.

OG GBA was the only handheld made by Nintendo with decent ergo design. Shit screen tho (just like the Switch!)

Yeah exactly, it will be night and day difference! And given how much cheaper you can get games on PC you will regain the extra investment in no time. Switch will sell on name only. And Zelda, as usual 😁!

I would have never bought a Switch Lite to begin with. Another unneeded product they pushed out when the Switch was already portable enough. That was the entire point of the Switch. Just wasting time, money, and resources for the sake of it over at Nintendo.

No, trade in values are shit, I'd rather just have two Switches around, one for docking as a dedicated Just Dance unit and one for portable gaming.

Switch Lite is 100 dollars cheaper, its smaller and more ergonomic, it has an actual D-pad and not 4 arrow buttons. Just a few reasons to buy it over there larger unit with no actual d-pad and costs 100 dollars more for no reason.

I was thinking of getting a swtich oled before, i mean upgrading my switch to it...but now after the deck release, i lost a lot of motivation lol

This upcoming Switch seems pretty pointless to me. I only have an original Switch, though, so maybe that's why.

720p is the best choice for a handheld actually. Its the same reason nintendo didn't upgrade the screen to 1080p. It would just be dumb to do it. 720p on a 7 inch screen is more pixel dense than 4k on a tv, or even monitor let alone 1080p. Why waste the battery life and processing power on something people can't even tell the difference to begin with.

Why would anyone buy a Switch Lite? Here is a lesson... NEVER buy a lite version of a console - it's a waste of money, it's a poor man's Switch and you will feel guilty for not getting the Nintendo Switch.

I need a D-Pad for lots of indie games the original switch portable was useless cause it has 4 arrow keys instead of a d-pad.

I have no reason to own a switch as it looks horrible on a TV. I was hoping the pro would be announced the lite does everything I need it to do.

Spend $50 more and get an actual gaming machine in your hand. A Steam Deck. It makes the Switch look like a toy you'd find in the toy section of Wal-Mart.

@theam0g: For $199 you can get a Switch Lite. It’s half the power, but also half the price. And it has so many amazing exclusives. Plus you won’t have storage issues like the Deck Lite has. 64g for AAA is a joke.
