Big info that got revealed in an unredacted document, they are signing deals to keep games out from other subscriptions than Gamepass

Anyway, this is standard practice for marketing deals, especially if said marketing deal includes and agreement (or first dibs) for that game to appear on subscription services. That's all. All sides are doing that

Man this just keeps getting worse for MS. First emails about buying up the gaming industry to shut down Sony, and now this . I’m pretty sure FTC has a good case against MS at this point .

I always found this to be quite funny. What is stopping Activision Blizzard from giving Microsoft any type of exclusivity? Developers choose where they want to put their games, so Sony being scared of Activision becoming a Microsoft exclusive company is pointless when in reality, they could choose to do that at any time. Activision just proved it.

Yeah, practices like this are only okay when Sony does it. Who does MS think they are with this whole doing things to try to be competitive with the competition. If someone it's okay with sony paying for exclusivity to a console, they should have no problem with MS paying for exclusivity on a subscription service.

Why should MS put their games on a competing subscription platform. That makes no sense. MS offered to put gamepass on ps5 and nintendo, which they refused.

Its like asking Disney plus to put their marvel and star wars shows on Netflix.

Last time I checked, these companies are direct competitors with the #1 goal of winning and beating the other. It's a cutthroat business. They aren't trying to make sure all gamers have access to all games regardless of platform, they want to bring people to their platforms. These aren't charities. If given the option, both Sony and Microsoft would monopolize the entire industry if they had a choice.

The big companies who are taking these deals are part of the problem too. A company like Squeenix should strive for more than a single platform and a fat check as part of risk mitigation on behalf of its share holders.

It's one thing to spend resources to increase the value of your platform by funding the development of games that otherwise would not have otherwise been made, but Sony and MS have aggressively been spending resources to de-value other platforms at the expense of gamers.
