Should he? Without a doubt, yes.

Will he? Unfortunately, probably not.

The Academy is so uptight against comic-book movies and animated films for prestigious awards. As good as some have been in the past, there have been no real nominations even for any significant award for any comic book film. Lets hope they give him the credit he deserves for this one.

They were also uptight about fantasy films until Lord of the Rings came along so I think its possible.

But heres what gets me, Val Kilmer's performance as Doc Holiday in Tombstone didn't even get a nomination. Probably because it was an action movie, but that performance is one of my all time favorites.

If Kilmer could get the snub, I think Heath can too. Then again, Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow did get the nomination. So who knows.

But I do think he deserves it. This is one for the ages. Think Robert DeNiro, Daniel Day-Lewis in how they completely disappear in their roles. There is not a single trace of Heath Ledger on screen.
