It's alright.

User Rating: 6 | House Flipper XONE

Positives:

  • Simple and easy to get into.
  • The initial joy of the "before and after" process is quite cool.
  • There's a zen-like nature to a game like this that I quite like.
  • Controls are fluid and easy to pick up on.
  • Mellow, easy-going soundtrack sets the mood nicely.
  • Upgrading the houses does ultimately feel satisfying.

Negatives:

  • Does wear out its welcome pretty fast, and doesn't carry much replay value.
  • Cleaning houses outside of the "main missions" can be very dull.
  • Some elements of the game - like painting - are not nearly as fun.
  • Upgrade system doesn't go as far as it should.

Consensus: I'm a sucker for games like this, so when I saw that "House Flipper" was on Game Pass, I knew I had to try it. And yeah, it can be fun at times, but unlike similar games, it definitely wears out its welcome pretty fast. Once you get to about the 10-hour mark (perhaps even before that), you kinda feel like you've experienced everything the game has to offer, and it starts to run dry a bit. I enjoy the zen-like nature of it, but it certainly could've been better. I think I'll stick to "PowerWash Simulator."
