Battlefield wannabe that fails

User Rating: 6 | Squad PC

This game was on my watch list for a long time but I never bought it because despite it being 2 years old (7 years in steam early access) it is still a full price £40. Anyway Steam ran a free weekend and I was keen to play.

The game really plays like battlefield - there a a good server browser, classes, squads, kits etc. amd lots of different nationalities you can play as. Anyway I was hugely diassappointed as the game isn't much fun at all.

Firstly the game crashes to desktop all the time. Literally in 30 minutes of play I woiuld get 5 crashes, and I have a decent rig. Also the game will not work with any overclocks or undervolts - the game will not launch without immediate crash. Many people on the forums complain about crashing.

As for gameplay itself, the overlay map is confusing and its difficult to know what to do and where to go to. The landscape maps are much too large (often with little cover) and you find yourself just running round for ages looking for someone to shoot (if the game doesn't crash first).

Sound is good but the graphics are quite bad. The game is 2 years old now but it actually looks much older and not much better than Battlefield 2 which came out 17 years ago.

The game seemed very busy - all the servers are full and some have queues, but this might be because of the free weekend.

Anyway I won't be buying this game
