Earthbound 2 or Mother 4

Do you think Nintendo will ever make a new earthbound? I remember in fourside, the sign said something like "Do not bother, working on earthbound 2." Will something like that. I really enjoy this game and probably one of my favorite rpg games ever.

There's a fan project Mother 4 but I don't know if it released or not so far. I think Itoi said somewhere he wouldn't be doing further titles in the series but I don't have a source on hand so take that with a grain of salt.
