Can this system even handle 3D graphics? Arkham Knight on the Switch is a disaster.

So much for that gameplay>graphics. Try to enjoy a game that looks like this, be immersed in the word. Its simply not a thing that is possible, unless you have no standards, and this is as good as you've ever seen.

Lots of people consider the Switch as the best Nintendo system ever made, but the system isn't even capable of running 360 games🤣The only reason why they keep releasing these titles on the Switch is because they know for a fact that the system has zero standards, so any dumpster fire is good enough.

Mobile gaming on a Nintendo system is the worst kind of experience that gaming can offer in 2023. There is simply nothing worse. Its THE bottom of the barrel.

To be "still" mad about it, you had to be bothered by it in the first place. Wish your sales helped the ps2 textures and frame rate in the low 20's.

I feel like never playing it again. All the Arkham games are stylistically ugly, casual and don't feel like Batman.

Arkham Knight is a PS4 game. There was never a 360 or PS3 build. It was also very much a PS4 game through and through. The X1 version was not as good and the PC version launched in such a poor state that it was pulled from sale. Good ol brute force is needed to get over the issues with the PC build. The games code base is known the be a bit of a dumpster fire. About 5 people at Rocksteady know how it works :P j/k.

It also remains one of the best looking games on last gen systems. There are even videos mocking Gotham Knights and comparing it to Arkham Knight. The latter does not flatter.

So all in all having the game running in any state is a feat in and of itself.

But yeah...it's really rough still. No getting around it. Definitely not the recommended way to play the game. The driving sections especially are a disaster. MVG shows it running on an overclocked switch and, even at 2.5GHz ish on the CPU, the game still has that intermittent stutter. No idea what causes it though....i'm speculating its garbage collection but that's a shot in the dark on my part. I was also thinking the CPU couldn't keep up with loading assets but the overclocked CPU not really improving the chugging does put a bit of a damper on that theory.

Hopefully they can patch it but it's hard to say how much WB are willing to pay for post launch support. I hear mixed messages on Asylum and City but the fact those are not perfect does show that this is more of a quick dump for a buck.

DF is disgusted by the game. So much so that they're saying it shouldn't exist. Never have they said anything remotely close when talking about the X or the PS5. Only mobile gaming offers this much misery.

Hardly surprising though, it's an 8th gen designed game and Switch is only a fraction of the GPU performance of the XB1/PS4, it'd only be successfully ported to Switch through a rigorous redesign that they'd probably never go to such lengths to make happen. At best, perhaps the 7th gen Arkham Trilogy (Asylum, City, Origins) would be doable. Even there the question would be would they be reworking the 7th gen versions for Switch or porting the 8th gen remasters.

Anyhow, not surprised. I won't bad mouth Switch for this, more like what we're the developers and publishers thinking even trying. I'd be curious if Rocksteady planned to spend more time making a Switch tailored port and whether that got cut short due to issues with the Suicide Squad GaaS game.

This is so bad that they want to compare it to the worst ps3 ports we've seen. Its the worst port in generations. Only on the Switch will you see such quality being sold to the public.

Uuuf. Just saw the DF video....really poor. This whole package clearly shouts "no f&^%s given here!". Knight also has long pauses and crashing. That's really really bad. That is actually unplayable.

I thought AA and AC at least worked well but...well...no. Not really. A lot better than Arkham Knight...but still a miss. Goes to show how much care actually went into this port overall.

Knight was always going to be a tough port job in fairness: but City and Asylum at 1080P should be a very solid and consistent 30FPS on the Switch. WB must have paid the porting house and 3.50 and told them to get it out the door in 6 months.

It's not just the PS2 quality graphics but it seems unplayable with all of that stuttering. I can't imagine those sequences where you have to race and dodge with the Batmobile (like the Riddler trials). No matter how good you are, your timing and reactions are going to be messed up with all that hitching. Apparently one of the minigames is completely missing the cursors you use to highlight objects you're looking for, so it is pure luck if you complete it. I wonder if it will even be possible to finish the game?

It's unfortunate that 2/3rds of the games must be downloaded when you buy the cartridge version. According to GameSpot, a download code will be used for the other two games, which means that sharing the game with your siblings to use on their console or lending it to friends will be restricted or impossible.

They weren't forced to release this on Switch so I wonder why they did, instead of waiting for the next Nintendo hardware.

😲 This looks like trying to run the game on an old laptop with integrated GPU where it does not even meet minimum specs... except that the Switch is supposed to be an officially supported system. How can they even put this out? There's a difference between expecting lower performance on lower spec hardware and just... feeling like you're using the beta version of an emulator or something.

Arkham isn't even an Xbox 360 game, it's ps4 and Xbox 1 level. Switch is on the level of Xbox 360 and ps3. I expect this game to run well on switch 2 if there's BC.

And the Switch "runs" them? 22fps is not what i'd consider running. Ultra blurry visuals from 2002 is also not what i'd consider as the game running, but here we are, it was released, and this is OK for Nintendo standards. So if they were released on the Wii running in 280p, it'd be perfectly acceptable for Nintendo standards.

All for the sake of portability, I guess. I had rather play games on the good ol' SNES.

The "for the sake of portability" is only a valid excuse for titles released between 2017 and 2019. For years now, this thing is incapable of running games, like not at all. There are no other systems where you'd see a game launch in this state (excluding kickstarter titles on pc that is, but those are not made by multi million dollars companies).

Well to be frank, the ps4 competing platform from Nintendo was the Wii-U, and we all know how that turned out.

At least Spiderman actually held a solid 30fps! This a a total joke of a port. Even the other games in the trilogy don't run great either and they were on the 360 and PS3! It's not about the graphics, this port is literally unplayable.

As for the PC, my current rig handles Arkham Knight just fine.
