Great game!! Congrats on the amazing sales!! Square don't miss!!
FF7 Rebirth launched with an estimated 2.21M daily active users. This would indicate it sold between 2.5M and 3M in its launch period, in-line with my own estimate from earlier in the thread.
Which is about half of Remake. An underperformance.

That's good to hear. Obviously not the same numbers as Remake, but the numbers are only going to get bigger and bigger. Once it's ported on PC and PS4 owners migrate to PS5, expect those numbers to shoot up. Plus, I personally think there will be another re-release of FF7 Rebirth, just like Square-Enix did with FF7 Remake Integrade

They're not going to pass Remake, and Remake wasn't all that good of a seller.
It is very possible Stellar Blade can outsell Rebirth.

FF7 Rebirth making an upward progress. It may or may not exceed Remakes sales, but I must say it's the gold standard of JRPG experience. Better than 12, 13, 15 and 15 imo.

Except that it is actually the worst performing major FF game in Japan since the Famicom days.
It is a gold standard of flop.
And Unicorn Overlord literally sold out of physical copies.

I know you're anti-Final Fantasy, but this one is actually one of the best FF games I can remember in a long time. You will always think Final Fantasy is a flop, but FF7 Rebirth is quality! (9/10 imo)
Form is temporary, class is permanent (Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth)
Never heard of Unicorn Overlord. It's not really my type of game.
@omegamaster: Except its one of the worst selling modern main FF titles. It is likely to get outsold by another new Sony IP pretty soon.
And no, FFVII Rebirth is a bloated open world game with dated design, horrendous writing that is worse than the original, and everything it does, others do better.
Unicorn Overlord overperformed so much that physical copies literally sold out.

texasgoldrush admits that he's never played FF7 Rebirth, so take his opinions about the game with a huge grain of salt.
@texasgoldrush: Sounds like you're giving FF7Rebirth a 0/10. There's only one way to find out, by giving FF7 Rebirth a go. You won't know if you won't try

I see. texasgoldrush has to open up and explore the world of FF7 Rebirth. It's a magical experience.

As someone who hasn't played Rebirth myself (I'm a PC bro), I'd be much more interested to hear your opinions about the game (based on actual experience playing the game) than texasgoldrush's opinions about a game he's never played.
Then pull some teeth arguing from the wrong position.
Is it that hard for fans of this game to recognize that the game is not selling very well?
He couldn't have laid it out any better haha
Or, that I agree, I like being right. And the data is showing that I am right and those who are arguing against me are wrong.
Bering correct automatically wins the argument.
Maybe I am right much of the time because I pick my arguments better.
LOL

He's always right and everyone else is always wrong.
lmao.

That number actually includes demo players, not every user here is a sale.
@texasgoldrush: Yup, that's totally it.
Or you are just salty that I am right.
Yup, everything you say is 100% true. No arguments here.
Or I am just more correct than you are, or the FFVII fandom.

Damn dude, I'm sitting here agreeing with you and you are arguing back. I don't get it.
@texasgoldrush:
"Or you are just salty"
You saying that is one of the most hilarious examples of irony I have ever seen.
The game is living rent-free in your head, you sad, sad person.
But keep on with this. It is the funniest thing I have seen for years.
I am not salty, I am celebrating.
This corporate cash grab is not going so well. It is awesome.

Wrong. The demo number is separate from the full game number. The chart makes a clear distinction between the two.
Just admit my estimate was accurate all along. I was being attacked for it earlier in the thread with inane nonsense like "that's not math, bro!" Yet my estimate turned out to be quite accurate.
Still disappointing that it couldn't match its predecessor. But it's not the flop you were hoping for.

WRONG
https://www.ampereanalysis.com/insight/stellar-blade-demo-numbers-impress-but-will-the-hype-convert-to-paying-players
"Daily active user numbers for the Stellar Blade demo, which launched at the end of March, have more than doubled those seen for the FFVII Rebirth demo (note: FFVII Rebirth launch DAUs include demo players)."
@texasgoldrush:
That's odd. The other source I cited said no such thing.
Even if that were the case, the point of a demo is to try it before the game releases. Why wait until launch day to play the demo and not before release? Most of those 2.21M launch DAU clearly purchased the game.
Also, the actual sales are usually higher than the daily active users. For example, Steam launch sales are typically several times higher than the DAU. So Rebirth likely sold between 2.5M and 3M at launch.

Yeah, FF7 Rebirth is beyond our expectations. It has some drawbacks, but it's still a quality game and worth the experience. Taking away the sales numbers, OP doesn't recognise the excellence of a video game Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is. In fact, I don't even think texasgoldrush has said anything positive about FF7 franchise! He/she probably thinks Final Fantasy music sucks.
Like I said, Form is temporary, class is permanent
@lundy86_4: @Chutebox Ahhh... now that you mention it... I remember that discussion about FF vs DQ last year.

I would rank FFVI as the best soundtrack in gaming history.
Next, FFVII original was good for what it was, but no masterpiece. Rebirth is much worse compared to the original in too many aspects.

And now SquareEnix may have to look at Dragon Quest XII to turn things around.

It's looking increasingly likely that DQ12 could be the first flagship DQ game to outsell flagship FF games since the 16-bit era. DQ11 (6M) had already come fairly close to FF7 Remake (7M). Since DQ has been trending upwards and FF trending downwards, it's quite likely that DQ12 would outsell FF16 and FF7 Rebirth. DQ12 probably still won't sell as much as FF16 or Rebirth in the West, but DQ12's Japanese sales alone could potentially surpass the worldwide sales of FF16 and Rebirth.
I have no dog in this fight. Don't really care about FF.
But remastering a classic game...
Into 3 different games...
And releasing them 4-5 years apart..
Seems like a stupid idea 💡
They probably divided the remake project into three parts because they thought it would take too long to develop the entire remake at a full AAA open-world scale.
Ironically, if they had released it as a single full remake covering the entire story, it could've potentially outsold the original FF7. But now, it could take all three parts combined just to match the original FF7's sales.
The potential is still there to sell big numbers when the final part comes out. If they combine all three parts into a single package and don't price themselves out, that could do big sales numbers.

Yeah.. maybe
But that's like 14 years of development to get the full game, granted I guess they are selling the parts as they go and making some money along the way.. seems like quite the commitment

It's a stupid idea! I would have accepted 2 parts instead of 3. But dear god having to wait for 3/4 years is outrageous. Peoples lives evolve in a span of a decade.

I really enjoy the new games, but I still wish SE would have just remade the game as it was, turn based combat and all.

I think fans are going back to Dragon Quest franchise since the passing of Akira Toriyama last month shocked everyone, I can see DQ12 could be the last in which we'll see traces of the original trio (Horii, Sugiyama, Toriyama) direct work. I can see Horii retiring after XII or becoming a consultant at most is what I'm thinking. All in all, I can't see SE stop making Dragon Quest. No doubt DQ12 could surpass FF.
