My favourite is Ninja Gaiden Black (on the original Xbox). What about you?
Well let's see, these are my favorite Remake games:
Don’t know if I can pick one overall but several favourites of mine off the top of my head are:
- Ninja Gaiden Black
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Resident Evil Remake
- Resident Evil 2 Remake
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Dead Space Remake
- Demon’s Souls
Demon's Souls is still king. When playing RE4R, i recall saying that its the best remake, but now that time went by, its not, Demon's is superior because their engine is amazing. Come to think of it, isn't it f'up that its been over 3 years, and we haven't seen nor even heard anything being made with that engine? Wtf is this, and what's going on???????
Demon's Souls. I want them to do the same for Bloodborne.
RE4:R, Spyro, Castlevania X68000, Shadow of the Colossus, AM2R, Zelda 2 Enhanced PC Edition, PS2 PC Genjin, Sega Rally Revo, Afterburner Climax, Caslte of Illusion, Virtua Racing, and all the Sega 3D Classics on 3DS.
Not sure if VF5:US and Outrun Online Arcade count but those are good.
Not sure if I will count FF7:R because it seems like a re-imagining more than a remake. It's good so far but I feel like it's a different game.
@judaspete: The Ys series has a lot of good remakes, I thought about mentioning them but I didn't play the originals so I'm not sure how they compare.
@judaspete: It's essentially the exact same with visual and audio upgrades.
Yea, YS has alot of fantastic remakes. Prior to the Publisher switching as well could pick these up extremely cheap on Steam and have many dozens of hours of good time
Final Fantasy VII Remake. Seeing the old pixalated cast in 4K glory was amazing.
Resident Evil 4 Remake. A gem of a remake of a gem of a game.
Can't recall ever playing one.
Do you even play video games or just tell others that they don't because it helps you cope with not playing anything?🤡
@MirkoS77: TLoU is a pretty good remake. Going back to the previous version looks ancient, which is funny because at the beginning of the PS4/One gen people were saying "we don't need these systems, games look so good".
Then they said the same thing at the end of the last gen too, but here we are and some people are complaining they don't look good enough.
The AI is a lot better too. They did a good job.
Can't recall ever playing one.

This coming from the guy who has BG3 running in the background while trolling on Gamespot to pad their hours "played"
You now the drill.

Nice try n all, but when you play on pc, you have access to everything on it, and running the game in the background when you decided to do something is a thing, yes, imagine that. Imagine the pc being able to accoplish more than printing papers, yea, WOW.
Tough one but I'm glad that Black Mesa became a finished product against all odds
Not only did they take it upon themselves to remake one of the greatest games of all time, they also felt the need to improve those chapters that were a bit long in the tooth (on a rail, Xen)
The gonarch fight in Black Mesa was one of the best experiences I've had in gaming and this is largly helped by a fantastic soundtrack.
Close second is RE 2 remake, which sparked my love for the RE series.
I think FF7 is the only remake I've bought into and played. I was super interested in the KOTOR remake and the rumored Legend of Dragoon remake, but both of those I don't think will ever see the light of day.
Master Chief Collection best remake of best games and for a good price of $0. The next is Gears of War remake for Smart Delivery and of Game Pass - the Unreal Engile 5 will have a major graphic update. Microsoft loves the Xbox players and thank you Phil!

Yeah the AI improvements are the biggest improvement. Overall it's a great package, I wish more remakes were done like it. Honorable nod to Shadow of the Colossus.
Are you playing No Return for TLoU II by chance? It's excellent. Not bad for $10 either if you bought previous version.
Dead Space felt more like a remaster to me. I know they made changes but meh. Still thought it was awesome. I enjoyed Spyro as well but that’s a remaster; gameplay, levels, enemy placement is identical to the original. Gotta go with Resident Evil 2 or 4.
I was slightly underwhelmed by Dead Space remake. Doesn't really improve on anything compared to DS2 and enemies feel pretty spongy. There's stuttering on Series X as well and the visuals weren't that impressive imo.... I did enjoy it at the end of the day but it was pretty unecessary. Really hope they make a new entry instead of a DS2 remake.
Gears of War Ultimate Edition is a pretty big upgrade over the original - which felt pretty dated even 10 years ago.
Remakes are pretty wack... The only one I've seen in a while that warrented a remake was probably Metroid prime... The rest I see as pretty meh... The Actraiser remake was pretty awesome, but not necessary as the base game still plays perfectly.

And it's not even close.
And yea, IDK WTF Sony is doing.
Demon's Souls is still arguably the most impressive display of PS5 capability all wrapped up in an incredible game that is superior to MOST games coming out 3 years later and it was a day 1 drop.
Yoshida (the one who was dead set on making this project special...IMAGINE we would not have that game on PS5 without Shuhei ) should have never stepped down from his position until a suitable Japanese customed employee was selected.
It takes a Westerner chasing only money that always fk s#it up for everyone.

Came here to say this.
And yes, the fact they took Xen, a level I loathed in Half-Life, and made it into one of the better levels in the remake Black Mesa, is no small feat.
Loved this game. I dare not even call it a mod, it felt like a full-blown game.

I think it was 2015 (almost ten years ago) when they released the original version of Black Mesa with the Xen levels coming soon.
When I first got to play the Xen levels I was in awe, so much love for the Half Life lore.
I can't wait to see what these guys work on next, but if it's a well paced singleplayer FPS, I'm game.
