Game: Call of Duty Black Ops 1 [PC]
Black Ops 1 [on PC] is shutting down... Gameservers.com is canceling servers and will not allow any new players to host new servers. It is not even a option on their website anymore and when asked at support@gameservers.com they have confirmed this.
Treyarch and Activision are slowly letting the game die, even though they are still selling it on steam for $40.00 usd. They have stopped support the in-game rank reset glitch where everyone loses their stats and has to start over. Many of the game modes do not work. Theatre mode is completely non-functional. There are vulnerability attacks on the servers which they have not patched. They do not respond to or have support for the game on their official website, twitter etc.
The gaming clan I am part of, hosts the most popular server in the game. We have the most favored map / game mode, admins and community to support it and gameservers.com is shutting us down. When asked if we can transfer it to another person within the clan to help maintain it, they refused stating it's against their ToS. When asked if another clan member could start up the server under a new account, They told us - "we are not allowing new servers for black ops 1 at this time". Letting the most popular server and community that maintains it to die, they are directly helping kill the game.
We do not know if Treyarch / Activision have given gameservers.com permission to do this, if not it could potentially be a breach of contract, since gameservers.com has held the monopoly for hosting servers for black ops 1 since day one.
