I'll list some of mine

  1. The GameCube is the best console Nintendo has ever made

  2. Literally the only fun part about GTA is running around shooting everyone and running over stuff with your car.

  3. Uncharted 3 is the best game in the franchise

  4. Played through and beat The Witcher 3, thought it was a decent game but not ground breaking.

  5. There actually are some decent mobile games.

  6. Many of the later ps2 era Spyro games where actually pretty solid

  7. In general Bethesda RPG's are sterile and boring

  8. While Valve has made some decent games, I don't understand why some people love them so much.

  9. The majority of gamers are neither casual nor hardcore but fall somewhere in the middle.

Bioware can tell stories but not make fun games.

Fallout 3 is the worst Bethesda game I've had the pleasure of playing.

Vanquish is the best cover based shooter ever made.

Tekken 7 is a disgrace to the franchise.

Openworld games are usually an excuse for lazy/ bad level design.

Sony could learn from Microsoft/ let people play older games without a paywall.

Uncharted 3 is the worst Uncharted game, attempts to capitalise on U2s success and became a bloated mess.

GoG is better than Steam.

The Last of Us gameplay has much to be desired.

Mods don't make all games better.

Switch needs a better battery. It's barely a handheld.

God of War (IV/ Dad of Boi) is not the best God of War game.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is the best 2D Platformer developed for a Nintendo console.

I don't think every game is Dark Souls unlike 95% of the internet.

Capcom was never "crap".

Tearaway is one of Sonys best exclusives of all time.

Keyboard and mouse is the best part of P.C. gaming, not checking a FPS counter.

  • COD4 is trash and it dumbed down the FPS genre.
  • Battlefield 2 is the best in the series not Bad Company 2.
  • Indie games are boring and are shit did the whole 2D thing in the 90's no desire to go back.
  • Regenerating health is for a casuals I rather go back to medpacks.
  • Aiming on a gamepad is still shit mouse will always be better.
  • Battle royale and all these survival games is just a stupid fad.
  • VR is NOT a fad and is easily the most impressive thing in this generation of gaming.
  • The Battlefield series is now just COD with vehicles the game got dumbed down to appeal to COD gamers the last real BF game was 2142.
  • Nintendo was fun when I was kid but I don't know how adults can play this crap unless they have kids.
  • All modern multiplayer games are garbage.
  • Mirror Edge Catalyst was a great sequel people wanted no guns and got their wish but still whined the game needed guns to be more challenging.
  • GTAV on PC looks better then The Witcher 3.
  • Silent Hill Shattered memories is the best in the series played it on PS2 it deserves a remake like RE2.
  • Max Payne 3 is a great game and sequel.
  • Remember me deserves a sequel.
  • F.E.A.R. and the Crysis sequels where ruined by consoles.
  • I don't know how people can find it ok to pay for Multiplayer on consoles I own a PS4 and will never give them a cent it's 2018 MP online should be free like on PC.
  • F.E.A.R. the original game still has the best fire fights of any FPS nothing comes close it's amazing and depressing that it hasn't been topped DOOM 2016 can't touch it.
  • Watch Dogs is better then Watch Dogs 2 the hipsters ruined it.
  • Gears of War is the most generic series I ever seen.
  • Sleeping Dogs is better then any saints row game or Watch Dogs game it deserved sequel.
  • The new Prey is hot garbage Prey 2 by human head studios should of never got cancelled.

Hmm, unpopular gaming opinions.

one is that moba´s are shit and the new "battle royal" genre is just a dumbed down fps for people with no skill.

1. People are complaining about loot boxes in Battlefront 2 but happily wasted their money on battle royale games and countless of smartphone ones.

2. "Games" like Hatred and Yandere Simulator shouldn't be made in first place.

3. Patreon have become a hive for some crappy pornographic "games" as well as abomination like Yandere Simulator.

4. Smartphone games need to be banished in this world unless they get rid of (rather unethical)microtransactions.

5. Final Fantasy XIII is good or at least better than what most people said about it. The same cannot be said to its "sequels" which dumbed down its battle system.

6. Final Fantasy XV is the WORST FF ever made yet there still too few people agreed with this. Crappy real-time combat with zero permanent playable female characters and milked for its DLCs, there's no reason for me to care about FF anymore.

7. Expect Final Fantasy XVI to be an MMO or a hack and slash one like FFXV. Unless they decide to return to turn based battle it's my kiss of death to FF series.

8. Kingdom Hearts 3 will be plagued with too many updates and and milked for "DLCs" as it is rushed like FFXV.

9. Lack of appearance and mention in E3 2018 meant that FFVII Remake could have been delayed again or SE itself don't put too much hope on it. They knew that game would be bombed at release.

10. While most people seems to agree that Electronic Arts is the worst video game company on the planet, my personal pick goes to Square-Enix.

Thank you!!... Skyrim totally sucks.

I'll post my most recent thought concerning E3. I'm more excited to play KH3's shipbuilding side game than i am the actual game.

Dreamcast is overrated.

Fallout 3 is better than New Vegas.

Souls games are overrated.

Indie games suck.

Steam should be more authoritarian with their store. Quality control please!

1. Chrono Cross is better than Chrono Trigger

2. The ending to Mass Effect 3 wasn't that bad, disappointing yes but not enough to ruin the entire game like others have said.

3. Bethesda hasn't crafted a decent story in a game since Morrowind and will likely continue with ESVI and future fallout games.

4. Demons Souls is better than Dark Souls 1/2/3 and Bloodbourne

5. Prefer GTA III over the other games in the series.

6. KotoR 2 is better than KotoR 1 in every way possible.

7. Mario Sunshine is better than Mario 64

8. Final Fantasy IX is the pinnacle of the series and it's downhill from there

10. Fallout 3 & Fallout 4 are terrible.

Half Life 2 and Halo 2 are both much worse than their predecessors and are the games responisble for the downfall of the FPS genre

Final Fantasy was never one of the best JRPG series, and the series has had lower lows than XIII

The Sonic series isn't fundamentally flawed

Naughty Dog has never made a good game

Transformers Devastation is one of the good Platinum games, and better than Nier Automata

Its a wonderful mechanic, but at some point in human history we have to move on.

Half-Life 2 introduced the idea of heavily scripted sequences in the campaign and sections that don't really use the game's core mechanics, while Halo 2 made projectiles harder to avoid and made all your health regenerate and at a faster rate. Both are pretty bad ideas that take away from the core mechanics

Yes, it was CoD that made these ideas mainstream, but these two were so well received that if CoD hadn't something else would've.

that is not what I am saying.

I am saying combat in game is over done, its fun, its great, I get it, but its time for humans to move on to new ideas.

@tryit: It’s mostly a tongue-in-cheek response because the way many people around here crap on various games it doesn’t really seem like they enjoy them that much.

Goldeneye 007 is greater than OOT.

Goldeneye 007 should have had a jump button. And that would have made it better.

Most console games before 2000 have bad graphics.

Games shouldn’t innovate if they don’t have to. Innovation for the sake of innovation is not good. We have a lot of previous examples on what make games “great”

PS1 & PS2 >> PS3 & PS4.

  1. Tomb Raider: the Prophecy for the Gameboy Advance dealt with Core Design's gameplay precision with free controls better than Crystal Dynamics' games.
  2. The only time consoles were better than PC was during the 90s in 2D when the former had dedicated hardware for side/top down scrolling.
  3. Keyboard only games on PC made more sense with PS1/Saturn like titles in 3D. The mouse was only good for first person shooters and strategy titles.
  4. Character based games were better on consoles when the camera was automatic or to the side of the action and top down with analog movement.
  5. Vehicle based games don't need orbiting cameras when their controls aren't free. Otherwise, you will be accelerating by hitting forward, and go against the camera.

it's a bit of a stretch to blame bungie and valve for others copying their ideas. in the years after those games we had some of the best fps ever including fear, crysis, bioshock, halo 3, modern warfare, stalker, orange box and probably more, so this "downfall" they caused must have had a bit of a delayed reaction

"two pretty bad ideas" is an understatement on my part, one is a design philosophy that lends itself to simple scenarios designed for spectacle over substance, the other is really multiple bad mechanics that lead to shallow enemy encounters. And it's not just that Halo 2 made enemy projectiles slower, it's that it also reworked how health worked from the first game on top of that, which means that it's optimal to just tank damage while you shoot, until you're low and then just retreat or move to cover, and rinse/repeat until you're done. It affects how the entire game plays on a fundamental level, and the effect is that it removes a lot of dynamism from enemy encounters and reduces the amount of tactics needed for success.

Criticizing the negative influence of a game isn't the same as blaming the developers for being copied.

Regardless of whether those are "some of the best fps ever"(some definitely aren't), those games don't refute anything I've said. 7 games being great doesn't mean that negative design trends that impacted an entire genre for the worse didn't start before those games came out, especially considering 2 of those games follow said trends, at least 2, but probably more, entered development before the trend began. Trends don't necessarily get big as soon as they start, especially when it can take years to make a game.

disliking regenerating health isn't an unpopular opinion, you hear it quite a lot. the last cod was praised for not having it iirc.

the reality is you can mitigate it in most games by just increasing the difficulty. a lot of games disable it on hard or you take that much damage you're only ever one or two shots away from death. so it doesn't really take away the "dynamism from enemy encounters" or "tactics needed for success." the jeopardy is still there, it's just different. chances are if you're that bothered about that kind of challenge you'll be playing on hard difficulty anyway. and besides it's just swapping out one unrealistic mechanic for another (the placement and abundance of health packs based on difficulty level).

but obviously you're entitled to your opinion. the way you worded it just seemed over dramatic and the reasons you gave didn't justify it. i still don't quite get your half life 2 criticism about "heavily scripted sequences in the campaign and sections that don't really use the game's core mechanics"

@stealthfox94:

1. Five Nights At Freddy's games are garbage. The epitome of shovelware and the sequels are click and paste clones of the first one.

2. 3D Sonic games are better than 3D Mario games.

3. Fortnite is a pointless multiplayer game with mediocre gameplay.

4. Crash Bandicoot N' Sane Trilogy should only be on PS4.

5. Batman Arkham Knight is the best Batman game by far.

6. Tomb Raider was better off without a reboot. The new games are getting more and more lazy.

7. Ps Vita is the greatest handheld device ever made.

8. New Family Guy is alot funnier than old Family Guy.

9. Nintendo should go back to making regular consoles with regular controllers and ditch the innovation crap.

10. Half Life 2 is just a decent fps game. But nothing about it is groundbreaking.

1. Liberal propaganda is ruining gaming

2. PC gaming sucks

3. AC: Unity was the best Assasins creed

4. The Order 1886 deserves a sequel

5. Nintendo should make games exclusively for Playstation.

The problem isn't just regenerating health, otherwise I would've singled out Halo 1 instead of 2. Regenerating health is bad in it's own right, it's just a symptom of a larger issue, which is how damage and health work in the game. Enemies in Halo 2 that can deal mid to high damage are more accurate and have faster projectiles(other games just flat out use hitscan), meaning that taking damage is inevitable, so the developers use regenerating health to counteract the amount of unavoidable damage you take. But since you can regenerate all your health, the developers also need to lower the amount of health you have to avoid having the game be too easy. All of this means that you spend most if not all of the combat in or near cover, instead of running and gunning, which is a simple and shallow way of playing. Increasing the difficulty or removing the regenerating health isn't going to fix the problem, all it does is mean that you have to spend less time outside of cover to avoid dying, which is why Halo 2's Legendary difficulty is unpopular among Halo fans. CoD tries to mitigate this by having enemies throw a bunch of grenades at you and having them respawn if you're slow, but all that means is that you have to rotate between cover instead of just popping in and out, and that weapons that don't have high burst at mid to long range aren't useful. Instead of requiring more complex tactics that use more of the mechanics, it's just the same simple tactic will less options and a smaller margin of error.

* Skyrim is a very good game, but not great -- it was an improvement over Oblivion, but Oblivion was the far better game taking into account the year it was released

* After "A Link to the Past", all Zelda games have very bland stories lacking originality/ intrigue

* Phantom Dust had one of the better told stories/plots that I've ever played through

* GTA does a lot of things mediocre but nothing great (characters/story aside) and the games are very good but not great

* NFL 2K > Madden

* The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay has the best first person combat mechanics amongst all FPS games.

* Videogame music has gotten much worse and more generic since the SNES/Genesis

* Annual Fifa, Madden, etc games should be replaced by patches, roster updates, and DLC

* Assassin's Creed is flawed due to the lazy combat. It's too easy to escape enemies, block all of their attacks, or take a health potion that completely recovers your health.

* DMC Devil May Cry was the best entry in the series.

* JRPGs would be better without the option to grind easily -- one way to accomplish this would be to limit respawning of enemies a la Dark Souls 2.

* "Loot" in games should be gone for good.

* Kameo: Elements of Power needs a sequel.

I feel the same way about Bethesda's games. Boring repetitive gameplay, sterile characters and interactions, sprawling maps full of fluff.

Certain mobile games should be considered gaming. Not like Candy Crush, but like OC2 or Shadow Fight 3 etc.

I love Far Cry 5, 4, 3, and 2 in that order. To me, the weakest is actually the first. I just couldn't stand helicopters telling me where I can and cannot go. It's essentially punishment for reaching the game world boundary.

I believe fortnite is a really bad game to go competitive, everything is RNG based. From bloom to shotgun damage, from loot to circle locations. It is already driving away the "hardcore"gamers, competitive wont help it

Maybe not all of these are unpopular
Battle Royale Games Suck
Diablo 2 is not the best dungeon crawler anymore. That goes to either Torchlight 2 or Grim Dawn
PSP is the best handheld on the market for it's price. I picked up 2 for $20.
PS Vita IS the best handheld on the market
God of War is overrated
Sleeping Dogs is better than Grand Theft Auto
Gaming is better than girlfriends :D
Digital downloads is better than physical copies
Bethesda RPG games are not fun, I'd rather play Borderlands 2 instead of any of the Fallout or Elder Scrolls
Doom 3 is a good game it just starts very slow
Nintendo should ditch consoles and focus on the gameboys
Mario Run is fun!!
Zombie Army Trilogy is the best sniping game on the market
Age of Empires is a terrible series
VR is a terrible idea
We need more voice based games like Binary Domain (Yes I know that game sucked but I liked the idea)
Consoles hold gaming back overall, its not a bad way to play games but it does hold it back.
No more remastered games, fresh IPS, if people like a game that much they will keep it
Gamestop needs to go away
GoG is better than Steam and Humble Bundle is better than GoG
City Building Games are more fun than they should be

@blackhairedhero: Unity? Seriously? That game was a dumpster fire.

Assassin's Creed was more clever, and thus a better game, than any of its sequels.

GTA Online was a better game than GTA5 or any of its predecessors.

TMNT: Out of the Shadows was better than Turtles in Time and should be universally recognized as the greatest Ninja Turtles game of all time.

Captain America: Super Soldier was better than Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The Acrobatic Style Shooter (Max Payne, Stranglehold, Chili con Carnage) is a woefully underrepresented genre and WET is still the best one ever made.

Sleeping Dogs was as good a shooter as it was a beat 'em up.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is still the best competitive multiplayer game of all time.

And finally, Sea of Thieves is the best online experience I've ever had.
