in a gaming forum?
Are you kidding me? I rejoice every morning about my account that I have here.
I actually had a vision the other day; a tall blonde riding a mighty boar came and said "Behold the glory that is Ser Bojangles, Numbered of Twenty and Five. For thine account shall deliver the world from a fate most terrible".
So really, it's destiny or some shit. Gotta keep this account going.
No, I don't see any reason to be ashamed. If I felt that way then I wouldn't be here in the first place.
Gamespot doesn't take up a huge portion of my life. I can balance my time on Gamespot with my morning routine as I also read the news and listen to music, for example.
@mango:
If you browse into any site like GameSpot, you KNOW what you're there for! Why shame yourself for it? I doubt most people would care, anyway. Gaming is becoming more and more popular these days so the likelihood of running into a gamer is pretty high.
Nothing to be ashamed of. But, it's not high priority either. I've had two previous accounts here (late 90's and early 2000's) that I haven't kept track of and have forgotten. The log-in stuff weren't worth writing down. ;)
If I'm on my computer browsing this forum and someone comes into the room I always quickly shut off the monitor in embarassment. I try to act like I was just looking at porn. It kills me to think of the shame I would put on my family if word got out that I post at Gamespot.
No, the gamers who aren't calling themselves gamers are the ones that are ashamed. Who gives a **** if you have an account on a gaming forum?
Nope if I did, I wouldn't have an account here. :P Its not just gaming forum..there's plenty of other stuff being talk about here. :P
Yeah. I feel too good for this place but not quite smart enough for neogaf. Anyone know of like an in-between place? Like is IGN pretty in-betweeny?

Wait, it's take a few seconds to post a comment.
Or am I missing something?
What are you trying to ask? I don't quite understand.
Not at all. I do tell a select few people in my life that I post on forums. As forums provide a good platform for discussions that can't happen elsewhere on the internet. Such as social media for example.
Just don't disclose my username and which sites I use of course. Although if anyone dug up my forum use since my GT days. I don't really have anything to hide. I've generally watched what I said. Avoided personal attacks. And I haven't been banned for breaking forum rules. Also showed what I looked like in person to a number of people on another site.
More ashamed that after 12 years I still am not at 100,000 posts.
But then again, I do have an alt account with over 10K that I used for about a year.
If anything you should be proud to be apart of a community of like minded individuals with the same hobbies. (Video Games) I'd much rather post on a forum than on social media.
To me the anonymous nature of a forum let's us focus more on the discussion of the thread topics. Sites such as facebook take that away, and things can become awkward and extremely personal very quickly.
