Very religious.
wbu guys and gals? :)
I somewhat dislike the use of labels. And I don't really like to say "non-believer" as that would imply a level of credibility in divine worship.
I'm just simply human. We all have the same beginning and end, so I see little point in adhering to any particular mindset that has zero relevance beyond our own lifespan.
I know this might all come across as unnecessary rambling. But all that matters to me is the life I live and everything that makes up the world as we know it.
There's probably a name for that. But as I don't care for placing myself into a certain category, I'd neither really confirm nor deny myself as such.
I was messing with you, although I'd call them "spiritual atheist".
Spiritual and religious are different.
Then maybe I'm not understanding your association. Elaborate if you're feeling like it.
People who use the label "spiritual" tend not to associate with any one religion, and tend to be highly syncretic (pulling different ideas from different sources and smashing them into their own "thing").
People who use the label "religious" tend to adhere to a specific religion, and even possibly a specific sect or denomination within that religion, and follow it's rituals, creeds and teachings in their daily life.

So, you're a 'Hindu' atheist? I've seen a few of them.

Both are apt definitions and your definition of spiritual coincides with what I had in mine. But I still don't understand what a religious atheist is.

Foxhound is a Hindu? Heh.

No.
And the Hindu atheist (the Charvaka) disappeared several hundred years ago. Those who practice now are reconstructionists... or just atheists who come from a Hindu background.

Someone who practices a religion but does not believe in the supernatural or a deity.
Not that hard of a concept.

Learn something new everyday. Still, I can't understand what do you mean by a 'religious atheist'. What religion do you subscribe to and that too, in the meanwhile, being an atheist?

As far as this topic is concerned, this makes you religious; I'm not sure why you felt the need to slap that atheist part in there.
@indzman:
Christian. I was saved, so now I "get it." I do feel bad for making fun of them previously. Heck, I thought Religulous was hilarious when I saw it. Oh well, better late to the party then not there at all. :D
Someone told me once that he isn't religious himself but he likes religious people (trying to compliment me)
I would have told him that I on the other hand am not religious but hate the religious people.
It's hard to describe. It's similar to when you know politics and yet you're not a politician yourself albeit in this case practice also is involved.
In short I do not like to associate myself with a certain group by claiming that I'm religious and I also don't want to come off as a certain type of person by making that claim and all while I like to disassociate myself from the irreligious people.
Basically you could say I'm religious but I wouldn't say it myself.

Buddhism, Jainism, Confucianism and Taoism are all relatively atheistic religions. At the very least, their official position on the existence of a deity or deities is that of the negative. While many members of the religion, especially Buddhists (depending on the sect) tend to revere figures important to them on an almost near-divine status, including the Buddha, who only claimed to be a human being who reached a state of living perfection (as perceived by him).
However, even strains within the same "family", like Mahayana, vary wildly from outright belief (Pure Land), down to strong atheism (Zen).
For all intents and purposes, any religion can be atheistic... it just requires the person practicing the religion to not have affirmative belief in a deity.
There are atheistic Jews in the world (Reform) who all but lost their faith after World War II and only practice because they are, I guess, fond of the traditions associated with their heritage (or wanted them to live on despite the loss of faith for the sake of those who died in the Holocaust).

Set the Kool-Aid down and walk away.
