After Netflix success with One Piece, will be interesting to see how they follow it up with Yu Yu Hakusho.

Don't know what that is. For the most part, when it comes to anime, idgaf unless it's DragonBall related.

Recently made a friend of mine rage out at me because he was trashing DBZ. So I started calling out One Piece ripping off Looney Toons and how Laffy from one piece would get stomped by Goku, krillen more his speed, and he blocked me for 24 hours.

We good now though, but I guess that really got to him lol

@sargentd: Have you tried watching the One Piece adaptation on Netflix?

A lot of people who've never seen the manga or anime became One Piece fans after watching the Netflix show.

@Jag85: I haven't. But I've watched the first 30 episodes of the anime and decided I didn't want to commit.

@sargentd: One issue with the anime was that it starts off really slow and takes many episodes to pick up. You stopped right before One Piece gets to the really good stuff with the Arlong Park Arc, which starts after 30 episodes. The Netflix adaptation moves along at a faster pace, so it's not as much of a time investment as the anime.

Considering theres 1078 episodes, not invested at all lol

Basically got bullied into it through peer pressure. I hate the pirate theme, hate it. Don't know why

@sargentd: I have always been put off by their drawing style (of one piece)

The love action option actually sounds worse though.

It looks okayish, I'm still unsure how I feel about this adaptation.

It looks like they're abridging the first season with some of the dark tournament judging by this trailer. But sadly, I'm far more hype for Netflix Avatar: The Last Airbender and if you haven't already, you should go check out the trailer as Netflix recently released it. I'm a fan Avatar series (not James Cameron movies mind you lol) and Netflix got more hype on that than Yu Yu Hakusho.

One last thing, they hype Togoruo way too early here. Don't tell me they're gonna skip Rando and Saint Beast arc just going straight into Togoruo's territory with the dark tournament. I hope I'm wrong.

Edit: I have Crunchyroll, so I'll try rewatching Yu Yu Hakusho Anime before this drops.

@davillain: Oh snap, I had no idea the Avatar teaser dropped!

Loading Video...

The visuals look good, but what really matters to me is the script. The animated show was full of humour, which was completely missing from the boring Shyamalan adaptation. I hope this Netflix adaptation keeps some of the humour, like the One Piece adaptation.

Avatar has always been bigger than Yu Yu Hakusho in the West, so it makes sense the Avatar adaptation would get more hype on these shores. That's why YYH is a Japanese-language show, since its core fanbase is in Japan.

Either way, it looks like One Piece has opened the door to big-budget Netflix anime adaptations. Much like what the Mario movie has done for video game adaptations.

Never heard of it, but I'll make sure to stay far away.

So fucking lame they're doing Avatar too. I'm a huge Avatar fan, so I'll stay really far away from that one.

@Litchie: One Piece is one of the best anime. And the Netflix adaptation is great too.
