You know, I asked myself the same question when I first heard about the guy this morning. And to be honest, I doubt an athlete will ever confess about his sexual orientation while still playing sports.

I can only think of 1 athlete to have openly admitted to being gay while still playing and thats Ian Roberts who played Australian rugby league. I think most players probably do let the club and there teammates know but just not come out publicly as they will probably get abuse at some stadiums.

Not until that person is a superstar franchise carrying athelete will others even consider coming out while still playing. Well at least here in the US. The general population is still in the dark ages. For an athelete or spokesperson to be pubicly chastised is equivalant to being burned at the stake.

WNBA isnt watched as much as the NBA, people didnt really react to that. If an NBA player would come out then the reaction wuld be very different, and huge......I wonder if it will ever happen.

If it was a high profile player i dont think that'll happen for a very long time. When Magic Johnson announced he has HIV it was a huge deal because it's taboo (and still is). Other players didnt know much about the disease so they refused to play on court with him. Now i'm not saying that a gay player now has the virus but some guys in the NBA probably wouldn't want to play with a gay guy... so no we will never see a high profile guy come out in our lifetimes.

What no one remembers Dennis Rodman? While I don't know the intricate details of all his relationships, but from what I gather he is bi-sexual or at least very open to the male spectrum of dating...

Rodman was wierd but i dont think he was bi/gay. He married Carmen Electra! and he dated Madonna... Rodman is a 'metrosexual'.

Put it like this... if it came out that he was bi, I wouldnt be surprised.  But being married to Carmen Electra and dating Madonna has nothing to do with being straight.  If anything, the fact that he did date Madonna makes it easier to believe he could be bi... I like kinky females, but i believe Madoon is TOO kinky.
