Poll Basic PC or Console Preference Poll (94 votes)
Self-explanatory, but.....
Do you prefer PC or consoles for gaming, or a mixture of both? Just trying to get a definitive idea of the SW makeup.

I went with "I play a little on console, much more on PC" due to the Switch playtime on the exclusives and everything else on my gaming PC is the winner among my gaming systems.
I don't know how people can game on PC only? I need diversity in my gaming needs.

Yeah, even though I play only on PC and am happy doing so, I would not mind having a Switch also for those different types of games and the portability.
Much prefer consoles because pc is made for printing, not gaming. I know for a fact I_P agrees.

100% PC for the past 8 months, my Switch is sitting there collecting dust until Rune Factory 5 comes out. Mario Odyssey was disappointing and I haven't had anyone over since then for Mario Kart sadly.
Almost all PC.
So few PS exclusives interest me at this point. Could've skipped PS4 last gen and the only real miss would've been Bloodborne.
I dig some Nintendo games, but that's like 1 or 2 games a year at best that pull me in. The portable aspect does nothing for me.
And of course everything Xbox lands on PC now.

Lol, I'm pretty much 100% PC at the moment. I think the only thing that could pull me away would be an exclusive Silent Hill announcement on the PS5 or something.
Been 100% PC since I lost my Sega Megadrive, which is probably at least 16 years ago now.
Nothing against consoles; I've just become jaded with gaming in general. The PC adequately provides what I need, and I can't justify buying a new console for the one or two games per generation that really interest me.
Plus, of course, strategy games, keyboard & mouse, mods, customization, framerates and backwards compatibility.
I game primarily on PC, but I do own a PS4 and probably play 1-2 games a year on average on that system. but I go months without turning it on (don't think I've used it once in 2021). I'll get a PS5 eventually but in no rush.
so I voted for the "I play a little on consoles but mostly on PC" option.
PC. Haven't owned a console since my Xbox 360 died over 10 years ago now I think. The only reason to own a console in my view is for exclusives, which basically rules out Xbox because they all end up on PC, and the big PS exclusives tend to be story focused, linear, tech showpieces which don't interest me a whole lot (they are also ending up on PC more often now).
I'd also argue that if you know a bit about PCs and you built your own with quality parts, a PC is more reliable and less of a hassle. Consoles generally run pretty hot, because it's not like Sony/MS are going to spend extra to keep the components well below their rated max operating temp, they'll just do enough to keep it within spec. If it starts to fail within 2-3 years that's not their problem.

What the hell do you mean? We're both printing papers on our pcs, and there's nothing wrong with that.
It has been several months since I posted here.
I have been a console gamer for most of my life, with some years (mid to late 1990s and from 2003 through 2006) playing exclusively on the PC. Mostly a console gamer since 2006, but is interested in the upcoming Age of Empires IV on the PC as I like real-time strategy games which are lacking on consoles.
Since many that voted said that they primarily play on the PC, I wonder the demographics of those who play on the PC. For example, are they from Europe (where PC gaming dominates)? Are they older gamers (over 30 years old)? Do they work in high-paying jobs and how much they make in a year (I apologize if this question offends some people)? What about their education? I think there should be a survey on the demographics of System Wars users to get an idea of who is coming to this forum.

South East Asian here, 28 and have my own PC. Started PC gaming when I was like 14. I don't work a high-paying job, but I do have a higher than usual average in my country. I just know where to invest my money that's why I was able to afford a PC and consoles.
I also finished college.
I probably would have gone for a gaming PC this year after saving up shit loads of cash with being in lockdown for most of the year and doing **** all.
But with how tough it's been getting decent hardware at a good price I spent the cash on a Series X and a 55" LGCX OLED. Which is fucking brilliant!
Oh, you meant basic poll, I was thinking "basic PC or console?". Console games lately. But I switch back and forth.
Lately it's been more PC than console.
Playstation has no games.
I've played what they had to offer. On PC until they have more.
I went with, “I primarily game on console”. I prefer that I can still buy the vast majority of games on a physical format and I just find console gaming to be more convenient for me.
I said "I play a little on console, much more on PC" - over my lifetime this is certainly true, but of course if I'm really digging into a game on a platform it will keep me on that platform more than others for a while, so moment to moment the balance can shift...
For example, I was mostly gaming on Sega Genesis and Switch before CP2077 came out, then I was basically 100% on PC with CP2077, and now it's more balanced with a skew towards PC since I'm spread over a variety of games (currently Ratchet and Clank on PS4 and West of Loathing and Zelda Link's Awakening on Switch pulling me away from the PC from time to time)
PS for exclusives, PC for everything else. This gen is looking to lean more on PC since I'm not seeing alot from the Sony camp now and what has been announced doesn't have any concrete release dates yet.
PC, I have a PS4 it is great but now I'm worried with the recent news that even my physical games in the future wouldn't work on it just another reason why PC will always be my primary system.
Mostly PC. Over the last year i would say its been 90% PC, 9% switch and 1% PS3 (I think its time to retire the ol PS3).
I think the last game i played on my switch was Xenoblade Definitive edition (which was awesome). Oh and a little bit of puzzle quest (which i regret buying. i remember liking it on the DS for a while but i now remember why i traded it in.). There are a few games i want to get for it but nothing really pulling me over at the moment.
On the PC its been horizon, Monster hunter world, Ys8 and Baldurs gate keeping me busy. I have a setup where i can use a mouse again so that also puts games like CIV and Stellaris back on my to-play map.
Well, i almost forgot i've got a PS4 Pro...xD
I voted "I play a little on console, much more on PC", because i think i booted it up ~1 month ago for a system update, lol.
