Poll Does Zeldo: Link's Awakening look like a $60 dollar game? (105 votes)
Would you pay full wack for this?
Would you pay full wack for this?
Am I missing something here? Why is there enemies from Mario in it?
And another port/remake of an old game for Switch......... Nothing but a port/remake/remaster box
Hell no. Did they say it will cost 60 bucks?!
First impression was that it looks like something fanmade. Second thought I had was "why Link's Awakening?". It was an OK Zelda game for GBC. Who the hell asked for this? And the third thing I thought was "this is what they give us instead of Pikmin, Metroid, F-Zero, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion?"
What the hell is Nintendo doing?! So frustrating.
Best description so far: “It looks like a smart phone game”.
It really does. It looks like a low budget terrible indie game you would see on iOS/Android.
Once again, Nintendo shows the world how cheap and lazy they are.
The sad part is their delusional and rabid fanbase will buy it anyway because “Zelda/Nintendo” and they will claim it’s a 10/10 and that they are having so much “fun”.
We all know it’s a lie, but the fanboys feel like they have to double down and defend Nintendo’s trash.
Who was it that determined what a “$60 dollar game” should look like? It looks awesome in my opinion. The potential price never crossed my mind, but gaming to some people just boils down to specs and numbers, I suppose, not the experience.
Sometimes I think Nintendo tries to do the most cheapest possible game that people would still buy.
Nintendo its really like plan from beginning is to make a bunch of money from nothing, probably why Nintendoom never actually happened, cause a million suckers will let Nintendo make anything and get a pass.
Could say similar things to Xbox, but its a temporary thing. Certainly not trying to cash in a half baked remasters, you know cause they're free.
I'd spend 60 on it. Haha. It's Zelda... Its gonna be worth my money.
Now if I could go back and return 60 dollar flops like Uncharted 4 which totally took advantage of my time, or even no man's sky at 60... Bleh... Mass effect andromeda still makes me puke. DESTINY! ARRRRG! Those are games I'm ashamed I spent 60 on. A new/remake top down Zelda game on switch? Yep... Gonna get my money's worth on that.

Ultimately the prices are set at whatever people will pay. Nintendo's aim, just like any other profit seeking company, is to charge as much as possible for doing the least work. Those are called "margins". It just seems like Nintendo is most aggressive about leveraging their IP with games that are obviously really, really cheap to make.
As to what a "60 dollar game" should look like. It is obviously opinion. But common sense should tell you to charge $60 the game should look like it have had some effort and budget put into it. Otherwise it might as well be a $10 digital game. This looks like a $0 budget fan made game.

I agree 100% If the length and quality of content is there, Im fine with $60. I wish I could get back my $60 for The Order 1886
HOWEVER! I don't like how Nintendo charges full price for remastered Wii U and Gamecube games. Those aren't remade, just ports. I'm going to be mad if Prime trilogy on Switch is $60
And people go out their way hate on Sony's big blockbuster AAA games?
Hell somebody's got to push the envelope because clearly no one else is.
If it wasn't for Sony we'd all be left with MS's unfinished indie projects and Nintendo's throwback refreshes for premium prices.
I think this game looks great but $60 is extreme for a budget built remaster. Nintendo really pinches penny's when it comes to their hardware and discounting their games.
Its Nintendo, they can get away some of the scummiest crap out there and their fans will act like they are doing them a favour.
An unfortunate truth.
Critics will, of course give it a free pass. Where, had it been the exact same game with a obscure third party name attached, a wholly different story.

Ah yes, of course.
That is exactly how it works.

Mass Effect: Andromeda should've been subtitled Buyer's Remorse for me. And I wound up Giving away my copy of Destiny 2. (To be fair, it came as a pack-in for my console, and I just had no desire to play it).
Which of the 2 games hold more value tho? How long is Link's awakening?
Hold on....... isn't that a Chain-Chomp? What's going on in this game lol
@m_machine024: @scatteh316: The original had goombas, chomp-chains, shy guys, piranha plants etc in it also. Quite a lot of Mario series cameos in fact, and this is a straight up remake of the Gameboy Link's Awakening.
Is it worth 60 bucks? Maybe not, but this game was a big part of my childhood so I'm looking forward to it.
Am I missing something here? Why is there enemies from Mario in it?
The original also did. Just some nods/ easter eggs
Looks like everyone hates it. Good to see common sense prevails.
Unfortunate this will not translate into poor sales.

It's just facts we have to live with- Nintendo has a large worldwide fanbase and they've learned how to cater to it over the past 10-15 years and take advantage of both nostalgia and current trends. Doesn't mean their games aren't great.
I just read yesterday that Nintendo has grossed over $500 million from their Fire Emblem mobile game. Like c'mon!
You are comparing two completely different games here. Maybe both games have their own qualities?
Well yea, one looked good for it's time, this looks like a cheap Chinese mobile game.

I just watched the trailer again and I noticed a lot of Mario influence in the trailer. Like there was a Chain Chomp and a 2D-side-scrolling section. I wonder how much Mario managed to get in the game.
I like the artstyle simplistic and clean, which is what I would want for a top down zelda game.
If the game is really fun, then yeah id say it's worth 60, tho id proabably wait (i diddnt buy horizon until it was on sale for 6 bucks digital)
Some people think 60 is only justifiable if the GAME has over the top graphics.
I think 60 is only justifiable if the game is a ton of FUN
Considering I last played it as a kid, I don't remember if it had a large amount of content which, IMO, might justify a higher price. Even if it was loaded with content (new) I have a hard time thinking it is worth more than ALBW but then again, not much was shown of the remake.
Here we go, people deciding what is worth what based on nothing.
The whole game is remade, you think that cost them nothing? And the comparison to RE2 is just outrageously bad. How do you expect those two games to look alike?
Links awakening looks fantastic btw, look at the models and textures. It's gorgeous.

Links awakening is an odd game. Lots of mario characters in it.

I actually haven't played the original, so this is new to me.
Not for me... but just because RE 2 is great and has nice graphics does not mean Zelda wont be worth $60 to others. Who am I to judge what people value?
We all have different standards... we all have different pots of wealth. IMO FTL (which looks like crap) is worth more than RE2 and new Zelda. Comparing screenshots and asking which one has more value is useless.
$60 is beans for some people, and games are judged only by what they deliver and not what they cost.
