State of Play presents more than 20 minutes of new Final Fantasy XVI gameplay this Thursday. Tune in live at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CEST: https://t.co/nOULcwLVnQpic.twitter.com/vNR9kGbxL6
@hardwenzen: It's not the best. Square did better with the desert in FF12. That said, every other biome looks amazing IMO and PC's will struggle to match PS5's gfx & performance in this game.

We haven't seen all the biomes, so i wouldn't say that they all look good.

No, and in fact The Witcher 3 next gen does vegetation far better.
Nice. One of the most anticipated games coming out this year for me.
From the trailers and a demo to the media so far, it looks like the fusion of FF and DMC combat is working quite well.
I also saw the presentation at PAX East where Yoshi P cleared up some common misconceptions about FFXVI, which was also very nice.
About the stages/fields:
About QTEs:
Come to think of it, whenever there have been misunderstandings and false rumors about FFXIV, for which he is also a producer, Yoshi P has always cleared them up openly, and he is doing it well this time with FFXVI.
He teased at the PAX presentation that he'd be explaining the RPG elements next, and I'm looking forward to hearing about it this time.

Stop!
TW3 always looked mediocre, had terrible gameplay and launched with a shit ton of graphical defects, blocky PS3 textures and massive pop-in that took over a year to patch out.
The only time TW3 looked even half way decent with with TONS of mods layered over the PC version to cover up it's PS3 rooted development.
Even 20 year old Morrowind Elder Scrolls III can look like one of the best games ever with tons of post-release mods added on to cover up it's ugly vanilla bones.
If you wanna compare games, we're gonna do it vanilla vs vanilla.
People post so many modded up shots of TW3 that they actually forget how underwhelming the actual game running underneath really looks.
As you can see FF16 actually has fantastic vegetation, as well as great gfx overall. TW3 needs tons of heavy visual mods outside of the original game's vanilla code just to look similar to what FF16 is showing here RAW.
I understand you're upset that FF16 will never come to xbox and you have to deal with playing Redflop instead but there's not need to make butthurt statements like this, and no amount of mods has been able to fix TW3's dated and clunky gameplay but you have fun with that.
I want to see the desert. Lets all pay attention to how the desert looks like.
Well, personally, I don't see any problem with this desert area (it's also taken from a low quality stream video of the presentation.) But to be fair to the whole game, why don't we see which "gameplay" looks more interesting with, say, something like RDR2 or TW3?

To me, the answer is obvious. Because a well-designed combat system/gameplay is much more important than the details of the vegetation. But if someone thinks the opposite, that would be a shame.
@girlusocrazy: Well, it's actually more of a demonstration of the different control styles than the combat itself, which is probably why he chose the weak monsters. Clearly, it's not representative of all combat in the game, including actual bosses.
But it is also true that some people tend to look at just one part of a trailer or demo and assume that is all there is to the game.
In fact, as I mentioned earlier, Yoshi had to give a presentation to explain otherwise to those who mistakenly thought that "everything in the game is dark," "every area is small," and "every boss fight is QTE-driven" based on a single demo of the early stages of the game.
So now he might have to give another presentation to people like you that "not all enemies are bullet sponges" and "you can't always defeat enemies with mindless combos", haha.

Yoshi is quick to put people in their place and does a great job responding to concerns or questions, and answering why something was done the way they did it. I wish more developers would do that.
@kvallyx: Depends, Denis Dyack did that and it didn't work out too well. It's great if developers have a vision, but the end product still has to have appeal.
Well, I can't dispute that. But I also can't falter developers for making what THEY want, as it is their vision and product the way they wanted it. If it doesn't materialize financially, that is on them. But if they are happy they produced a product with their vision, I can respect that too. It is art after all.
Cool. I'm not big on previews tho. I will check out impressions once it drops (only because I have reservations about the combat being less FF and more DMC which is not really my thing - otherwise it would be a def buy)
Plan to just get it on PS5. Squeenix has a poor record of PC ports and it will be Epic exclusive... so I'll just get it on PS5..... Gotta do something with that thing anyway.
Not sure why 12 got brought up, but dope game for sure. In the mood to replay it again, just too long with too many other games to play right now.
Maybe a mix-up. I think I read recently that the battle lead for FF7R stated they want to "surpass FF12's gambit system" or something along those lines.
Rightly so, if you ask me. I loved FF12's gambit system and I think adding a bit of automation and logic to FF7R's action battle system would greatly increase the strategic value and satisfaction of the game. One of my main gripes about FF7R is that it can get a little button-mashy and you don't get full control over your party without heavy micro-management.
