What i see here is that PC hasn't gotten an RT patch, so it can't have reflections when its not in the game. And how is it that this old ass game is even in conversation when talking about graphics on an Xbox? Don't they have new games for a NEW console to show us the new tech in? The simple answe is no, they don't have any new games. They tried with Infinite, but it was so bad it went into production for another five years.

Is this post trying to suggest that the PC isn't capable of what the new Xbox is? Because that would be silly.

What it does suggest is that the XsX can handle the ultra PC settings + RT which would be a massive concern if it was not the case.

Can you please post links to the full size images for the 3 large shots, people too often use tiny screenshots to say PC doesn't look too much better.

That being said PC version will look quite a bit better, and more importantly will without a doubt run exponentially better. These enhancements ARE coming to PC, confirmed on twitter.

Clearly the PC doesn’t have the updated textures and ray tracing. We know this because 8 months ago when we saw Gears 5 running on Xbox Series X it was running max PC 4K ultra settings and 60fps without breaking a sweat.

But we know Xbox Series X has the enhancements to take advantage of the tech and I’m sure come Nov 10th or before they will update PC. My goodness system wars is full of sensitive Sally’s. Next we will have PS5 fans coming in claiming PS5 could do it too.

With that said. Back to the topic.

Always has been a beautiful game and IMO best visuals of this current generation (subject to change when Cyberpunk comes).

Some people get over defensive here , no one is saying the console is more powerful than the PC , the PC hasn't get the patch to add the same features as the Xbox series X.

One looks like the floor reflections are driven with roughness maps, giving a realistic breakup to the reflectivity. Other looks like a straight value, and far overdone. The kind of reflections you'd get if you mistakenly applied roughness in sRGB space.

Really hope this isn't the new amateur hour graphics gimmick this gen lol. Game devs have a bad habit of losing sight of subtlety when a new feature becomes available. Late gen 6 it was exaggerated gloss to show off normal maps. Gen 7 had that obnoxious bloom and DOF. This gen started off with obnoxious particles and lens flare, along with subsurface values that made characters look like lit candles. Don't want my games to look like they've been coated in oil just because ray tracing is finally here.

Shinier isn't always better fellas, you'll get over it quickly.

gears 5 was already in the top 2 best looking console games along with RDR2 and now its the best looking next gen enhanced or new shown game to date

@bluestars: Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us 2 all look better than both of those tho lol.

I don't see why they need to throw in RTX 3090 when it's not going to be an all-out GPU over RTX 3080 flagship but whatever. The PC pic looks like Vaseline coming from the floors and it's not even real waxed too. I'm sure a patch is on the way to make it better so I'm not all too concern on it.

I think you need to scratch off Death Stranding when it's already on PC cause you lost the battle when you mention it.

@bluestars: Yeah, shame you don't get to play them to see that they are the best looking console games. I do agree that RDR2 is certainly the best looking game you can play on an Xbox, but PS4 has several games that look better.

@Mozelleple112: I have a PS4 Pro. I have played Death Stranding. I have played TLOU2. They are not in the same realm as Gears 5 or RDR2 on Xbox One X lol. Stop it.

Now you are just being silly. Just to recap, Death Stranding on PC makes no sense now to be included on PS4 as trying to pass it on as exclusive. TLOU2 & Ghost of Tsushima are both good games in their own right, but I enjoy Ghost of Tsushima the most.

Yeah, gotta agree that the effects are over the top just to be visible, so as a result I prefer the second image. Both the reflections and shadows are way too sharp and clear (this kind of reflectivity is possible, but only and brand new high gloss tiles, which I doubt is the case in that scene, and the shadows are never that sharp in real life).

Let's hope that RT reflections will not become the shitty bloom\glow effect of this gen.

I prefer the PC look.

I hope there's a big console game that doesn't focus on RT reflection and use the RT hardware somewhere else. Maybe GI. I don't mind those older crappy reflections if it's gonna give a massive boost on elsewhere. Maybe in the future where hardware is much better.

@bluestars: Gears 5 doesn't get the credit it deserves but imo TLoU2 is a few steps ahead, no contest. Problem with TLoU2 is the boring world while Gears takes you to some really cool locations. BUT RDR2 on the X takes the crown easily. Lighting model alone is infinitely superior to TLoU2 and the level of detail on that huge open world won't be matched anytime soon.

@bluestars: The only way your statement would have been correct is if you said best looking games specifically on Xbox.

Xbox owners all think RDR2 is king of graphics, but nah lol, search on Youtube you can see a comparison between HZD on PS4 Pro and RDR2 on X1X. HZD hold up really, really well. and it isn't close to being as good as any of the three I mentioned.

Gears 5 on PC in 4K/8K and Insane settings looks better than anything on PS4 for sure, but the X1X version? Nah a solid 4th or 5th best looking console game IMO.

you don't think xbox would charge if they made a separate 15 or more hour game in the same universe as gears? you think xbox would develop a game for 2 years without charging for it? either on gamepass or on disc?

miles looks just as a cross gen game like every other cross gen game coming out. at least we have new content to play. were gears is just polishing the original game without adding 15 hours or more to the game.

never thought i see a dlc being over 15 hours long have you? miles is not a updated version of the first it's its own game. they put thought into miles. hell there is even a spider cat.

miles is not a skin to the original spiderman he has his own powers and move sets.

miles will become its new series in the franchise. miles will have its own games in the future.

15 hours or more for 50 (normally this gen it be 40) is what to expect. heck 15 hours is longer than 90% of xbox fist party single player games.

if you get the 70 dollar one you get over 120+ hours of game there. the original game plus 3 dlc plus miles all on one disc.

you think gears will keep the attention of players to stay online for over 120+ hours? maybe a few people.

its not a expansion back. its is it's own game using the same engine as the first game. developers always use the same engine on there sequels or stand alone games.

do you call uncharted lost legacy a expansion back to uncharted 4? which miles will be longer than.
