Yeah, exactly what I thought. Up to 60 fps can mean basically anything between 30 and 60 during gameplay.

Never got past the first hour of the game. I have been told it gets better later on, so maybe this update will give me an excuse to try and play it again.

I played the 60fps mode when this game released, called the PC version.

I also used nvidia surround to spread the game across my monitor and my TV so I could play 'splitscreen' where each person had their own screen. I'd like to see a console do that

Awesome, I presume this is for the Campaign as the Multiplayer is already 60 fps right now on the regular XOne. Either way this will be one of the first titles I play on the XOneX, it's more modern like Forza 7 and already has 4K on PC so I think it should be one the more impressive titles as far as 4K is concerned, it's looks pretty nice on the X1S as is for me

So is this supposed to be an enhanced visual fidelity mode using upscaled 1080p? If so, then glad to see one of MS's studios doing this. For Forza 7 it seemed like they were too focused on getting native 4K for the sake of saying the XB1X could do it. I'd rather they go with an upscaled version and using the extra resources for extra visual niceties, like what Crystal Dynamics is doing with Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Already have all the currently available X1X 4K upgrades downloaded to my external. Once the X1X is released into the wild, all I gotta do is plug and play.

With the new dashboard update, there is now a dedicated X1X page on X1. You can set it for auto update, and any currently available 4K updates for supported games will automatically be downloaded.

If you have everything on an external like me, and set updates to download to that as well, once you have your X1X, all you will need to do is plug in your external and play everything straight away.

@tdkmillsy: Ohhh this age old argument... It's 2017 Xbox one and PS4 should be able to do 60FPS out of the gate and it shouldn't be an option on their 5th console the xbox one x. If you're using that logic you might as well factor in the cost of your tv as well because we all know you can't play your xbox one on your delusional monitor.

Just want to say that the GTX 1070 does and average of 81 fps this game at 1080p with Ultra settings and insane screen space reflections. So if the Xbox One's 1080p mode, which will probably run at console settings, drops frames, well you guys get the point...

Performance

Put framerate first. For the first time ever on console, Gears of War will play at up to 60fps in 1080p in Campaign and Horde - all including higher resolution textures and some of the new enhanced graphical features available in Visuals mode.

Visuals

Push graphical fidelity to the max. This mode uses Ultra Quality Textures, a wealth of new and improved graphical features all at 4K resolution (3840x2160) thanks to the power of Xbox One X. You’ll experience the same frame rates you’ve come to expect from Gears of War 4 – 30fps for Campaign and Horde .

In both Rendering modes, Versus will run at a rock-solid 4K 60FPS (with adaptive resolution scaling).

Ok, but it only uses ultra textures and a bump in some settings. Not fully ultra with insane screen space reflections.

i do a nice 60fps at 1440p and a nice 4k/60 without maxing (im sure Xbox one X level graphics) on PC :)

So weird to me that 'turning up the settings' is celebrated so much on consoles, like it's such a big deal, and this is to the crowd who constantly tell us, graphics don't matter and they don't care about that, especially when they're losing the 'power battle' with another console. To PC gamers it's just another day. On consoles, it can warrant a re-release.

It just feels a bit pathetic to me.

Gears 4 was a a bit shit though.

Great news since more options should be appreciated.. Hopefully more games take the approach of offering a 60fps mode like Gears of War 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider

I seem to recall plenty of people claiming they'd prefer 1080p/60fps over 4K/30fps and if this becomes the norm, that'll be awesome for those gamers..
