Halo Infinite to be a "spirital reboot". Can it make a comeback like God of War and Zelda did?

I would love to see this series make a comeback and be the FPS for consoles again. Question is, can 343 do it? Do you have confidence in that happening, SW? They seem to have had a very long time to work on it. But then again, time doesn't seem to matter I guess.. look at Crackdown 3 and Anthem. Nonetheless, I'm rooting for their comeback. Hopefully it will be in the same vein as God of War and Breath of the Wild.

I don't think they need to. Halo 5's campaign was lackluster as they tried to introduce too much variety. Halo is popular because of Master Chief. If you want to diverge, do an ODST. ODST was freakin' glorious and deserves every ounce of praise.

As for the MP... Halo 5 nailed that. They dove hard on the MP, but it just didn't last as long because modes like BR became a huge thing.

After Halo 5, Halo isn't even in my top 10 upcoming hyped games

I don't have any faith in the series and I stopped playing MCC cause my achievements wouldn't pop up when I beat the game I was still missing tons of achievements that never popped.

I'm pissed and really sour about Halo.

So no I don't think they can do it unless Bungie was back making it 343 sucks.

@ProtossRushX: Your complaints are always so off-the-wall. As much as we can all appreciate getting a video-game medal (I know I have,) you're willing to discount an entire franchise? 343 crapped out on the SP, but their MP was fairly solid, and MP has been a huge part of Halo.

Well personally I thought Halo 4 and 5 were both excellent games so for me if Halo: Infinite turns out excellent as well then it wouldn’t be a comeback for me. I have confidence in 343i to make Infinite another great Halo game.

As for Halo, I've always enjoyed the series; some titles better than others but Halo 5 did shit the bed with the story but the multiplayer was legit. I look forward to seeing how Halo turns out.

They can. I mean why not, others has done it and done great. The franchise is over saturated with lore and continuity spanning crapton of media , a "fresh" start may be what Halo needed to get fans back and newcomers coming.

If they're wiping the slate clean and starting fresh, it sounds good to me. Halo as it was didn't seem to be going anywhere and getting about as convoluted as Kingdom Hearts.

Nope. Halo is terrible without Bungie, and Bungie is terrible without Halo.

God of War didn't make a comeback. All that happened was a good series got butchered for the sake of popularity. It shouldn't even be called God of War.

Needs gameplay changes, give me something the first Crysis did with its nanosuit. I need to feel powerful if I'm supposed to be in a power suit of some kind, the Halo games have never managed to nail that aspect, at least the latest game tried, but nah.

As long as it stays 1st person I'm happy I remember reading they employed some story writers who worked on the uncharted series. They definitely need to go back to its roots to get the series back on track.

I say, let Halo Infinite do it's own thing. All I really want is for Halo to return what made Combat Evolve legendary that we all love and enjoy back on Xbox.

This is false! Yes, Halo was originally going to be PC exclusive but when it was announced for Xbox as a launch console, it was cool and well receive the game was totally awesome on it's release. Owning Halo CE on Xbox was like owning a super PC of it's time and I wasn't a PC gamer at all until when Crysis arrived and I went PC from their. PC gamers did drool over Crysis.

Totally agree. Halo 5 had some insane gunplay and movement mechanics. Looking at the Halo Infinite trailer, the game got the art style and presentation nailed already.

Selling out isn't that risky. The formula was already proven by Naughty Dog's tens of millions of sales. They knew stripping God of War of its identity would make it more popular.

it was never guaranteed to become popular because of the changes, so your argument is pretty stupid. Everyone speaking from hindsight try to sound high and mighty because they already know how things have turned out.

There were plenty of complaints before people played like I don't want escort mission with a kid, no jump button no buy, I don't like the perspective change, where are my chins, dad of war not my god of war.

You can claim it got butchered, but suggesting if was for the sake of popularity is you trying to sound hip. The devs changed the formula a bit with Ascension by adding MP, you could say THAT was more a change for popularity but that didn't work out did it.

It's the emotional old man and child over the shoulder melodrama that makes it like Naughty Dog's games. It also lacks a lot of the music from the old games, since you now need to listen to the characters talk, which just makes it duller. It sucks. Worst of the four games in my book. The only one I never finished.

On topic, I think that would be good to reboot the original Halo. Halo CE was the only halo game I liked so a reboot of the original would be more excited than any other type of halo squeal.

Heh, they did go for some feelingz but I didn't care about that. I just love the new gameplay and large world.

disastrous move by ms to give the franchise to another developer; exactly the same mistake as they made with gears. and when you hear of how 343 was formed - hiring people, particularly ones who actively disliked halo, for a secret project with the idea that when they found out what they'd been hired to work upon they would channel their dislike into helping improve the series - it becomes clear why it turned out like it did.

i hope 343 can resurrect the series. third time lucky. infinite will likely be a make or break game for them

I guess that goes down to what you liked about Halo. For me, I was in love with the characters, the world and the story. But from a gameplay aspect, Halo always had too many things that I disliked.

* I always hated the floaty controls. Master Chief always felt like he floated more than walked. He always felt incredibly slow but light at the same time which was weird.

* The mission variety always felt lacking and the campaign itself was mostly lackluster. Cool ideas with fascinating story backing under performed in execution.

That's the most critical I have ever been about Halo but I still powered through every game. Despite my unwavering love for the series, I always felt like there were many other fps games that PLAYED so much better.

You sure? About a month or so back a thread was up about what we do for work and she commented and said she was a Seamstress. That's specifically a female occupation as the male version would be a Tailor...lol.

There's definitely ways to accomplish this without scrapping the whole plan. There could be a storyline on how Cortana is compromised and Chief has to embark on a rescue mission (even though Chief's had to rescue her two times already).

Master Chief as a character is shit and feels archaic. Halo 5 suckage had nothing to do with whether you play MC or not but more on the reality that the story was crap and the campaign was equally garbage despite the game looking great. The gameplay wasn't even good just mediocre across the board. A reboot of the series is definitely needed because they wrote themselves into a hole. They need to keep the story clean and focus. All this drama and faux emotional connection is a waste of everyone's time.

If Infinite doesn't have a good SP campaign, I think I'll be done with Halo... I sincerely hope they don't just focus on MP again, like they did with 5.

Good to hear it's possibly a reboot the series definitely felt a bit stale in 5. 343 need to put more focus on the story compaign.

And look how much. God of War 4 succeeded. If it garnered that much praise and sold really well then it was worth the risk! Even if it did have to leave some old fans behind.....

I have zero faith that 343 can make a Halo that I would like, but this talk of rebooting is an easy way to peak my interest.

CE is the only Halo I've ever liked, and that's pretty much only based on the mp. If they didn't know what they had... how can I expect 343 to do better?

Campaign is what made me love Halo CE. It was dedicated, polished and fully flushed out. I must have replayed it more than 30 times. There was nothing half assed or gimped about it when I played it in 2001. The MP was just a bonus, as it should have been.

Every other Halo was supposedly all about MP and an attempt to get you to purchase XBL to get the "true" experience and every other halo in my opinion was ass because of that focus.

I agree about Combat Evolved, but the campaigns in Halo 2, 3 & even 4 were excellent I thought. 5 was the first game that I didn't really enjoy the campaign, and it was obvious to me that MP was now their prime focus.

That's why I'm giving them one more chance... if Infinite is MP-focused again at the expense of the campaign, I'm done.

Get rid of everything besides grenades, 2 guns, jumping and running. Everything else is trash like perks. Quickly finish the Cortana thing and start something new. MP isn't needed since MCC.

Could just make an ODST 2 prequel and I'd be happy.
