Hello friends,

RE used to be my least fav franchise but last few games have been good. especially RE4 remake.

so heres how I rank RE games from best to worst.

1. Resident Evil 4 Remake - By far and away its only game in series that is masterpiece. and probably one of the best third person action game today. this is how you do third person action game instead of doing some shitty movie games.
2. Resident Evil 7 - Most horror RE game and while game mechanics is not much great and its too short but still it has best atmosphere in series.
3. Resident Evil 2 Remake - Its good. but kinda lack variety but still solid game. the famous "hurr Ghost you save 65 times".
4. Resident Evil 2 original - Did not liked fixed camera but I can respect what it tries to be. played long ago and not age well today.
5. Resident Evil 4 original - It was most overrated game of its time. basically fixed camera tank control game but set in third person view. it took 2012 HD mod to be properly play on PC.
6. Resident Evil Village - Took 7 formula and make action game out of it? only thing good about 7 throw it out of water? lol
7. Resident Evil 5 - tried it, bad action game. 0 horror elments.
8. Resident Evil 3 remake - Cinematic scripted title. basically tomb raider but in RE universe. its movie game.
9. Resident Evil 6 - now this is by far worst game in series. it was time RE finally become third perosn movie QTE game.

Havenot played original, Original Remake, code veronica, RE3 original so cant put in series..

so this is my ranking from best to worst. what are yours? lets discuss.

Try 4 Remake. original 4 is overrated but Remake is masterpiece. by far best gameplay mechanics in any of RE game.

Kinda hard, but give it a go. I haven't played Remake 4 or Village, so those are out. I didn't play the absolute diarrhea ones either, so those are out.

Stop playing after 5, have 6 and may get around to it one day, and would never touch 7 or 8 ever.

Also think 4 is overrated, and have never played any of the remakes and most likely never will.

Haven't played a lot of them since they came out, too hazy to rank. And even among my tops, just depends on what I'm in the mood for.

Favs are REmake, REmake2, RE4.

Currently up to the island in REmake4. I like it a lot, enough to be up there with my favs. But pretty sure OG RE4 will remain my go to for replays.

Nah, so I've only been on it for 3 days, but I did get a good chunk of play in that second day. Wish I had more time to play. Probably the most fun I've had with a AAA since Doom Eternal.

I've only played RE7. Thought it was pretty good.

I am so damn curious about RE9 after RE4R. Just imagine if RE9 is a new side story, with a Ethan Winters like new character, and its in first person. Jesus Christ i will lose all hope in Capcom.

I really dig the first half. Feels like classic RE with its routing, exploration, item management, and horror vibes. Wish they would have kept it that. Game just didn't have the enemies and mechanics to service the heavy action. Lacking encounter variety, shot placement hardly matters.

Still a good game though.

Yeah was talking with Champ about that recently. Forget RE4R, even after RE2R you'd think they'd be like "wow, so this is a good formula to build on!" It's so weird lol.

I don't even think first person RE is inherently bad. Given a good variety of well designed enemies and better mechanics, could be sick. That's what I expected Village to be, but nope lol.

It's like they have two separate teams for remakes and new games and they don't know about each other.

That is exactly what i was thinking when it comes to RE2R. Not only was it extremely well creceived, but it sold a ton, so you know damn well you're doing something right.

I personally think first person in a RE is completely garbage. I want to see animations of my character in third person. I liked it how Leon, when firing a pistol from up close, he fires it closer to his chest/shoulder as you would irl in CQC situations. This is the kind of things i always wanted Capcom to expand in a RE game. In first person, the sense of impact with every bullet fired felt so god awful in RE8. I don't know if that's because Capcom is incapable of making a first person shooter, but the gunplay in RE8 reminded me of some old ass arcade titles such as House of the Dead lol. I don't want that in my Resident Evil games...

And Capcom having two different teams in charge of the RE series that never talk to eachother is also what i've been wondering since RE2R lmao. And that's the primary reason why i am so curious about their next game.

Yeah I get you, given the choice I'll take third person RE for sure. But yeah, just seems first person RE doesn't have to be as weak as its been on the combat side. Less an issue of perspective, more about the game designed around it. Apparently people love them in VR, no experience with that.

Hope RE9 is dope. Clearly they can still make great RE, strong recent examples both in survival horror and action. As much as I've enjoyed these remakes, a brand new game every bit as dope would be way cooler.

That's nostalgia talking. Try playing the original 1 through 4, and then play the remakes. Nearly unplayable in comparison.

Nah, originals are good. It's certainly not clear cut that all the remakes are better.

Doubt you'll find many who prefer 3make over the OG.

2make and the OG, both great but different, argument could be made for either.

4make is still fresh, pretty great, personally still dig the OG more.

Saying the original RE shits on REmake1 though, smooth brain. It's the same game made better in every way lol.

Enjoyed them all except for RE8. Seriously need to play RE1R, then I can feel that I've experienced all the best stuff the series have to offer.

Champ how would you feel I finally Embrace RE4?

Since it's an amazing game, always have been, and you had to be able to (very slowly) move while shooting to see it, you're dumb.

4 remake is better than 4 in every way.

didnot like RE8 but still its better than 5 and 6.

mechanically its much better, much better shooting, move while shoot, remove QTE from original, play much better on PC with KB/M than original which was tank control game. Ashley AI is much better.

Yeah it's really good.

RE8 is also action game which is badly done since RE7 was pure horror title with not so good combat. RE8 focus more on combat and action without improving it but remove horror elements.

RE series always suffer from identity crisis. cant decide horror or action.

RE4-R is action game done right atleast. RE4 was never horror game.

The only one I didn't really enjoy was Revelations.

I'm playing through Remake 4 at the moment. It's pretty good, but I'm only a few chapters in so it's hard to judge it yet.

Always been a mix. Start the game scrambling for BB gun ammo and weed, against seemingly impossible odds. End the game as a walking nuke.

Some of the games embrace survival horror. Others are more about the action, but with horror elements. The games having different goals isn't a reflection of their quality.

The real identity crisis for this series is that they can't seem to decide if they want to make great games or lousy ones.

I guess I'll have to give this remake a chance.

I've never understood why people call N64/PS1 era games "unplayable." Playing those games can make you appreciate modern graphics and controls more but I find very few games from that era "unplayable" unless they're straight up bad games.

Preach dude. Remake essentially replaced OG1. After playing the Remake I felt I would never want to play the OG again. All the other remakes did not have that effect.

@templecow90999: Don’t hate 7, in fact enjoyed all the games to some extent, just the ones around the bottom were kind of my least favourite. Got more out of 6 though because while it’s a hodgepodge mess of a game I found it to be so over the top and all over the place that it was actually kind of fun. Enjoyed 7 as well. Good horror/action game in general but just didn’t feel very “Resident Evily” so to speak.

What to you makes CV stand above the other tank control style games? Besides the fact it was on the Dreamcast xD

@last_lap: I'm a fan of Code Veronica. It's better than RE3 Nemesis. CV was the real RE3, a true sequel to RE2. Nemesis was the spin-off.

Liked the ideas in RE3. Which they largely dropped.

Building on the idea of multiple playthroughs.

@jg4xchamp: I don’t think I can fairly rank Code Veronica, as I haven’t finished the game. But I’ve tried at least three times to finish it, and about 3/4 of the way through, I just don’t want to play it anymore. Everyone raves about that game, but I just don’t see it. Glad to see it’s not just me.

Game sucks. Never believe Cups lies. Dude likes MDK, clearly the goon has brain damage.
