Metroid Dread is better than any of the cinematic walking sims Sony has ever made

If you've played Dread, deep down in your soul you know Sony has never made a game with such exquisite controls or incredible gameplay.

Any gamer worth their salt will tell you this.

For a game such as GoW, Nintendo would be simply incapable of creating even if they assembled all their studios into one. But what do you expect when they're still creating $60 side scrollers when the rest of the industry moved on 25 years ago🤷‍♀️

BOTW is 10/10 here but also higher on Metacritic than any Sony game ever created.

So going by scores it edges Sony out in every category.

That said, Dread is better videogame than anything Sony has ever made in all of their years in business.

Seriously though, think about how eh the gameplay is in Sony developed games and compare it to a masterpiece like Dread. Be honest with yourselves here. Not even trying to flame the Cows here. Just calling out the real gamers.

@casey-wegner: lol nope. I like Dread, but a masterpiece it is not. It doesn't feel any better than Samus Returns or Fusion at all. Barely any gameplay additions to the gameplay compared to those games.

Dread is good, but nowhere near the best Metroid. Acting like it is feels pretty direspectful to the series.

Yeah, that too. Should've cost less. Sometimes feels like Nintendo don't really like Metroid and kind of wants it to fail.

They wait 19 years to give us more Metroid. When they do, they give the project to a quite unproven developer, instead of RetroStudios who have been proven to be amazing with both Metroid and 2D games, and haven't done any other shit for years. And then they sell it for 60 bucks in a world where very similar games are being sold for around 20.

I mean.. if Dread doesn't sell a lot, it pretty much deserves it.

I'm pretty worried about it. I've no idea how the development goes. Metroid Prime 3 kinda sucked. Last time Retro Studios made a game was 7 years ago. Are they even Retro Studios anymore? Etc.

I like the game as it is but you are really trying way too hard, its not that serious.

Sony has made many games with significantly better combat and vastly superior gameplay mechanics.

To name a few over the last few years:

• The Last of Us (on a different dimension all together)
• The Last of Us 2 (better than anything Nintendo has ever made)
• God of War (on par with LoZ:BOTW, by far greater than Metroid Dreadful)
• Uncharted 4

It's difficult to say metroid dread is a better game than god of war.

Better than Fusion? I'd say it's on par, if anything. Samus has never been so fluid to control. The powers are really fun to use. But Metroid is a lot about graphics, music, and just general atmosphere, and Dread takes a backseat in those areas. The bosses are fun to battle, but they're also pretty forgettable, which also is dissapointing for a Metroid game. Super Metroid and Metroid Prime are by far the best Metroid games, and pretty much every old fan of Metroid would agree.

Casey is just on some "best game ever" crusade for system wars purposes. I'm not sure if he's just trolling or actually have bad taste, but it's one or the other. Or both.

Not hard to be better than boredom inducers like UC4 and TLOU2.

Tons of gamer's on the internet think it's the best Metroid including me. If you look past Nostalgia it's far better than the others.

Anyway Prime, and Super are also better games than any games Sony has ever made so the point is moot.

Bloodborne and GoW were better. Dread was good but nothing earth shattering. Its just another metroid. Same formula, same abilities

Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all make good games. If you're going to skip anything due to brand loyalty, that's fine, just don't expect me to take you seriously.

They all have worse gameplay. You have less control over the character, they don't feel good to play, and the level design is simplistic.

You must either have not played Dread or know nothing about gaming.

Sorry Bloodborne has good atmosphere but it's janky as hell in comparison to the smooth Samus, typical Fromsoft. Gow is a walking sim with decent combat but nothing even close to Dread. Dread's a completely higher class of game. It should be considered an AAAA for being a masterpiece.

Dread's controls and Samus' traversal are a step up from NG Black, these are the big boys. Sony makes nothing like this.

Sony's context sensitive automated combat and on rails traversal is childish in comparison. Designed for noobs and children.

The bitterness and jealousy around this game has been crazy from the start.

The guy playing this demonstrates 100 times more skill than any Sony gamer because Sony games don't have the depth to pull insanely high skill level traversal.

Sony's automated games don't allow for a high skill ceiling.

Metroid Dread is the best Metroidvania to come out in years. It being better than all of Sonys cinematic games is subjectivet hough. Some people don't like gameplay and want their games to just tell epic stories, and that's fine. I am personally a fan of gameplay and love 2D platformers and Metroidvanias especially, but, Sometimes I am also in the mood for those walking sim cinematic experiences too. I really loved Until Dawn and the other games that followed.

Yeah, for me Sony games are good for when I want to watch low budget dialogue.

I guess it has a place for film fans.
