Microsoft is rapidly working on 'Fable': The release date is closer than expected

Microsoft's Fable reboot is showing signs of promising progress, with Playground Games hiring additional developers to speed up the project. Although details about the game are still quite scarce, it has already generated a lot of excitement within the Xbox community, hinting at a potential hit in the future.

This year's debut trailer for Fable, which was released last year, further ignited interest in the game. While we wait for more information, one well-informed source, known as NateTheHate, reveals that Xbox plans to launch the game sometime in 2025.

First announced in 2020, Fable has been the subject of a great deal of secrecy from Xbox regarding details of its progress. However, NateTheHate claims to have received information about a planned 2025 release date last year.

In addition, he also provided some insights into other games being developed for the Xbox platform. In addition to Fable, NateTheHate suggests that id Software could be working on a new game within the already famous franchise.

I really hope that it's a true RPG this time. The closest we got to that was Fable 2 (which they need to remaster on PC)

6. Elder Scrolls VI (at least we know this one is coming!)

Unfortunately it seems MS is to busy making games no one wants and Forza...

Hiring more devs is not an indication a game is close to release, it's an indication that they hired more devs. Seems like a fan took some words and rearranged them to make them mean something that they don't mean.

The first Fable was OK and I thought it had potential to grow into a good series.

Instead it became total trash with absolutely stupid decisions to add meaningless attributes like conversation boxes for every NPC, pointless potty humor, and most importantly even more dumbed down combat. Instead of strengthening the brand the loser in charge was allowed to indulge himself in irresponsible vanity design resulting in the complete shutdown of the studio.

No one wants the tongue in cheek drivel and wasted development effort on hordes of NPCs wandering around talking about nothing. Even Ass Creeds' endless fetch quests are better than Lionhead...so this better not be ex-Lionhead employees. Those folks should be working at the car wash.

Every one of those games is in development other than the Gears remake.

Unless it is multi-platform I have zero hype. If it comes to PS5 I might check it out.

@IMAHAPYHIPPO: while what you're saying is true, we don't get this constant media presence from Nintendo and Sony, objectively. In fact, we mostly get radio silence from Sony.

There's a marketing strategy definitely at play here, and it is clear it involves this presence. Think of the euphemisms you hear come from executives like "community engagement" and the sheer number of Xbox influencers (also the existence of the ambassador program) on social media. It's not an accident.

Long way of saying mid.

The fist Fable is and always will be legendary on Xbox/PC. The later sequels were meh at beast and Fable 3 was shit! The teaser trailer on the new Fable gave me mix feelings. I'm not all that worry on the blend ginger girl, just wish we see more of the core gameplay even though I know that's coming later and if MS wants to hurry this game and get it out, I hope they'll have gameplay ready by the time Summer Game Fest 2024 starts.

I maintain that the article wasn't proofread, as evidenced by stating that the trailer released this year and last year in the same sentence.

Fable is a video game. We're not competing for anything at all, nor will we ever be. And I'm quite excited about a new Fable game and hope Playground Games knocks it out of the park. I've seen nothing from this game to get excited about.

@davillain: yeah, but I think pg is trying to be realistic. We're using the Xbox 12 tflop to really push a real life simulation of what an actual female would look like when she's living in a jungle for weeks and months, fighting ogres and so on, no time for makeup. That's true realism. When she cleans up back in town, her appearance will also improve.

The level of detail, and imagination of pg games is truly shocking.

No. I need to see a game first. But I'm interested, partly because I really like the atmosphere of the first game, and I want to see how a racing game developer tackles an action RPG.

2 was my favourite RPG on Xbox 360 have high hopes playground can deliver. Worrying we haven't seen many updates.

It will be interesting to see the sales for this. Since Fable 1 (which had to be re-released due to underperforming) sales have had diminishing returns with increasing apathy.

We also live in an age now where console plebs can experience real RPGs like Baldurs Gate 3, the universe opening up.

Overall will don't wish ill on this game, unless it does something drastic or has overwhelming quality can't see it making a mark beyond the 60000000 Youtube videos complaining about it being woke due to not having a big tittied anime babe.

Maybe they could "rapidly" work on a main character design that doesn't look like some abomination from Dr. Moreau's laboratory.

It could mean it is "Feature complete", and the new hires are essentially quality testers and bug squashers. In other words, the game is more or less built and finished, they just need to polish it.

I doubt it, though. Not holding my breath.

I mean we already know Playground is supposed to be working on a Fable game, so, not exactly prophetic.
