Most Underrated game of 2020 goes to..

So was this most underrated game of 2020? for me its easily. the way it was overshadowed by other inferior games was beyond me as this game not only have best story this year but also best story of gen. yeah its old story but still it some kind of extended and updated story too.

its not shallow open world game most games these days getting (even latest Cyberpunk), its linear game with open driving. divided into chapters like original. unlike original it is cover shooter but its still challenging cover shooter on harder difficulty as it still required medikits on walls instead of health regen. only cover shooter I can bear.

all in all. it was inferior remake because of course original is still masterpiece but still better than most third person games today.

Remember when you asked to elaborate on you being simple? This is a perfect example.

Black Mesa, its release got caught up by megatons like DOOM: Eternal, eventhough it clearly was the best FPS.

Half Life was the best and remains the best in 2020.

Mafia: DE was a nice change of pace from other Third Person Open World games out there.

This is most badass game ever! Not poo poo like other games named Cyberpunk. True masterpiece but not as masterpiece as original which is super mega masterpiece.

How about a game that isn't a remaster? How about an actual title created in 2020?

Black Mesa is being praised more so hardly call underrated except of course mainstream media pretend it doesnot exist due to its fan made remake.

Mafia is refreshing compare to open world third person games we get year after year current/last gen. its better than any of GTA.

I think Until You Fall fixed the standing problem of shit melee in first person by using old-hat light-gun game precision but applied to virtual controller tracking where it's no longer about flailing vaguely.

Doesn't seem to be getting much acknowledgment. All Valve, even though say this game contributed something tangible to the platform.

Spiritfarer would be the most underated. It plays best on ps5.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Such an incredible game with masterfully crafted side quests.😊

Streets of Rage 4. The real GOTY. It got snubbed.

Dreams. I mean, it got the reviews it deserved, but its community should be infinitely bigger.

@Jag85: SoR4 is damn good! I would probably have prefered pixelart visual direction, but the game is still beautiful! I also love how they brought back the gameplay from SoR2 (my favourite in the series) and not from SoR3.

Yeah, you know the game of the year awards are worthless when Streets 4 isn't nominated anywhere.

seriously though, I would vote for Desperados III, or maybe Trackmania which literally no one played

Nothing concrete about calling something over/under rated, I know. I just don't get the SOR4 mentions tbh.

- Smash hit among genre fans.

- Reviewed very well with no hype machine behind it.

- Plenty of mentions among these year end awards.

- 1.5 million sales as of early early September, that's insane for a 2d beat em up these days. Especially when you factor in Gamepass availability.

- Even gets chatter and praise on this forum, which usually drones on about the AAA flavor of the month.

Don't think anyone expected it to do as well as it did. The team behind it certainly didn't lol. Now we have more content coming, despite them not previously having plans for it, because the game was received so well.

Plenty of great games don't even register a blip, I'd say SOR4 did very well.

@Jag85: Gotta agree with Streets of Rage 4, not sure how it sold but if it was under 10 million copies then it's criminally underrated.

Desperados III, maybe? Though it seemed pretty well regarded, it might just have been because it's a niche genre.

AC Valhalla is an outstanding game, I think people just want to hate on it because it's like the 30th AC game. And fair enough, it is getting a bit stale. BUT IT'S REALLY REALLY GOOD!

Factorio was released in version 1.0 (left early access) in 2020 I think. I don't know a single soul on here that plays this game, but I've spent like 300+ hours with it (which is a lot for me).

Hitman series is best among all third person games exist today.

Try Hades.

You like DOOM, so the fast paced action of Hades should be up your alley.
