Poll Official "Now that the dust has settled, is Starfield a good game?" poll. (90 votes)
Now that *some* of us have played it for a while, and a community of sorts has formed around the game, what's the verdict? Good, bad, somewhere in between?

Why do cows always obsess over MS games and not their own 🤷♂️
Why are you obsessed with cows.
Starfield is everything what's wrong with open world games. They failed at everything.
At least it has potatoes.

Why are you here defending a trillion dollar corporation who puts out shitty games?
@dabear: Bro, your game is incredibly mediocre. It has zero staying power. The ultimate one n done game.
@last_lap: One and done.
I guess Spidey 2 wasn't so great after all.

Making an observation is an obsession now? go replay Spidey 2 Solid, you did say it's a great game. What no replayability, well that's the life of a Sony gamer these days.

You still own a PS5 and PSVR and yet you claim to be a hermit these days, yeah you're not fooling anyone here.

Where did I defend a trillion-dollar company? You guys obsess over MS and its games all the time.
Go play Spidey 2 randy, make a thread and let's talk about your experience with it, oh wait you don't love yours you just hate theirs, it's probably the greatest Sony meme ever created because its 110% true.
Let me leave you with some facts, I haven't purchased Startfield, and don't plan on buying it until there's a definitive edition in a couple of year's time.
Then I will give my opinion on it, maybe you could play it in the meantime and let me know how it plays.

@hardwenzen: Yeah, all those NG+10 posts.
Oh, and 12 million players.
12...million...players...
Man, it must suck for you.
You keep repeating those 12M like it meant anything. Infinite had what? 21M players? And its so successful the IP is completely dead and 50% of 343i were fired🤣
And what NG+10 posts are you talking about? This game is too damn dull to go on NG+, let alone +10. You gotta be a paid MS shill to waste your life on a game that does absolutely nothing in the NG+ to warrant a new playthrough, and no, skipping the campaign is not a reason to restart the game, get a grip😆

Gotta throw dude a bone at some point dude
2023 was not a good year for Xbox. In fact, it was a nightmare with mid games like Starfield and pathetic games like Redfall. But still next year it seems Xbox will shine and reward the loyal fan base.
Xbox SW Keyboard warriors: Just be ready to make it a success when the gems of 2024 do release as they look insane judging from the trailers.PS5 and Switch lineup for the next year don't look as good. Apart from FFVII I am not hyped for any of their exclusives for 2024 or even 2025.
TES/Fallout in space... is what it is. People love TES and Fallout I see no reason this should be any different.
I'd say it's like all of their other games: A good game that will be made great by the modding community.
I enjoy Starfield for what it is, but I don't think it outdoes Skyrim in terms of exploration and new stuff.
Game needed more weapons and armor, and they should've made every planet Skyrim-sized and limited it to 100 planets
Starfield threads is back by popular demand I see.
All jest aside, Starfield isn't Skyrim as the game really doesn't have diversity and only Humans is what really doomed the game. But even more so leaving planets and going into space truly breaks the immersion with the loading screens. The gunplay was really great but the inventory needs more work on. All in all, if you love Skyrim, don't bother with Starfield as you won't get the satisfaction. But the good news is, its on Game Pass.
Voted: Starfield is utterly mediocre. Delivered on some promises, but not on many others.

What other promises they didn't deliver on?
@nod_calypse: The simple fact is that you're a cow trying to hide behind PC.
We, cows, we all own pcs. This is what you need to get over with.
I found it to be tedious and boring with far too much micromanagement of everything for no reason.
Having said that, I only put about 5 hrs into it so I suppose it might reach a level above mediocre if I were to play further, but the thought of that makes me cringe.
Given that RPGs are my favorite genre this game is a huge disappointment....but not surprising since they made fighting dragons utterly boring as well.

The fact you own PC's shows Sony can't keep you satisfied. What you need to realise is your minor cows hiding behind PC's 🤣
@davillain: So it's more Fallout than Skyrim?
Yeah, it's really just Fallout in space, that's not really good for Starfield as it needed more variety from Skyrim.
What other promises they didn't deliver on?
Bethesda didn't make any promises they didn't keep. They were oddly vague about many things and didn't talk about certain aspects of the game which led many to speculate and have expectations beyond what they should have.
To clarify, I don't think this is the worst Bethesda game at all. I had fun for a while, but it just didn't have that Skyrim touch. I'll try to comeback and play it sometime next year to see if my opinion has changed or not.
Only a rabid fanboy would pick the two top options. Then I guess only a fanboy would pick the bottom option.
Which leaves us with option 3, the only right choice for neutral gamers who aren't utterly obsessed with a piece of plastic.
Starfield is mediocre, sort of delivered on a few promises but failed to deliver the majority of them. A 6/10 is an honest, non-biased and fair score.
For those of us lucky to play Starfield in 4K/160 fps maxed out on PC, with future mods it certainly has potential to be an 8 or even 8.5/10.
I haven't played it, but it looks pretty bad. I've seen and heard nothing from the game that makes me want to experience it, it all looks so freaking boring. Average graphics, average gameplay, bad writing, lots of loading, dissapointing exploration, bad main quest, bare bones base building..
I really can't find a reason to play it, it seems to have nothing special going for it. Pretty much exactly what I was expecting, given the trailers we got.
Starfield is a perfectly adequate game, however it fails to live up to its' predecessors in the BGS stable, Skyrim/Fallout have worlds with named NPC's with individual schedules that react to world events and even emergent events caused by player activity, Starfield lacks this in a dramatic way, Starfields map density is also very lacking, essentially rather than have one or two hub areas that had a density similar to the Skyrim or fallout maps we instead have the same density of locations spread across the entire galaxy, it suffers from Bilbo Baggins syndrome "butter scraped over too much bread". All that said Starfield will easily entertain you for 40,50,60 hours or more but you will get to a point where you notice how fake so much of the in game universe feels, things that just break your ability to suspend disbelief, which is something previous BGS games have done so well (especially with a little assistance from mods.)
It was what I thought it would be after that 30 min preview. It was a bit boring and shallow. Space exploration was nothing but fast travel and loading screens.
It's 30% off steam. No desire to get it yet. The ship building sounds cool.
Had to peek. Had no idea that it's been getting trashed over there.

I pay attention to social media, you apparently (despite your sig) do not.
You wouldn't know if it's a waste of time, because you've never played it. Did you know there are changes to the story for each new game? No, because you've never played it. Did you know that your powers become so great you can actually play the game like your are a Jedi/Sith and kill people without using weapons? No, because you've never played it.
You're just a jealous Sony Pony with Starfield Envy.
I think it was ok, but not great. I regret spending so much time on it. Since Starfield I’ve played AC: Mirage and FarCry 6. I honestly think both those games are more fun to play.
The constant inventory management, loading screens, lackluster exploration, no land vehicle and just the junky feel of most quests weared me down.
@nod_calypse: Bethesda employees are currently hard at work commenting on negative steam reviews saying how amazing their game is. That "mixed" is bothering them a lot, and it's very funny.
Forgot about that, lol. So absurd. Never even heard of shit like that happening before.
@last_lap: “Why do cows always obsess over MS games and not their own 🤷♂️”
Bro calm down… How many times can they complete Spider-Man 2. Once a day until Wolverine. 🤣
I'm a huge Bethesda fan but I've yet to play Starfield. I definitely will at some point, just not feeling it right now. To be honest from what I've seen, it must be one of their weakest entries.
These games are all about exploration and it doesn't seem to have translated well into the space setting. Travelling is just a bunch of loading screens and planets from what I've seen are just boring (I mean that's realistic alright) with copy paste points of interest.
That said, I'm sure I'm going to enjoy Starfield. Full modding support is expected next year so maybe I'll just wait for that before jumping in.
