Pick Your Platform: Dark Souls Remastered

Given that it's coming to every major gaming device, which platform are you most inclined to pick it up on? Granted we are missing some details on price and features, but it's always proper to make kneejerk threads to gauge people's preferred option.

Me? Day 1 on both PS4 and PC (it's a game I must add to my platinum trophy collection, given that it's my 2nd favorite GOAT).

I'm clearly gonna get this game on the Switch purely because of the portability.

Probably not picking up on any other platform though, don't see why I should get the PC version.

Might pick it up on Switch, I'll have to see how well it performs when it launches.

I’m definitely going to get this on the Xbox One first. I am toying with the idea of also getting the Switch version but not sure yet.

I'll definitely get it for the X and if the price is right, I'll pick it up on the Switch as well. Eventually I will add it to my PC collection as well.

I don't really want to replay the game (most of the fun comes from playing it blind), but the novelty of playing it on a portable system might tip me over the edge.

Loved the game on the 360, took me about 100 hours to get through it. Don't think I will get the remaster though, I'm sure it will be awesome but I don't think I want to spend that time doing it again, I'd rather replay Dark Souls 3 because I kind of rushed that game and missed many areas, but Dark Souls 1 I know it fairly well inside and out.

Even at 20$ going to have to be noticeably better version than the original with dsfix for me to grab it again

I want to be excited, but it's hard to be after being around the fanbase for so long. This series has some of the worst "fans." On the reddit, people are talking about adjustments to the game they want in the remaster, and several posters feel the need to apologize before criticizing dark souls 1. It's beyond pathetic.

Oh yeah, if I did, PS4 and PC obviously. Switch version depends on performance; not going to buy an all new copy of this game to experience frame dips to the 10s again.

Let's see what upgrades there are over the modded PC version. If they are substantial, I will get it on PC of course.

@howmakewood: I haven't even heard about any visual improvements. All I've heard is that it'll be running at 1080/60 or 4K on PCs and higher end consoles :/

seen some mixed rumours, using ds3 engine but not all the advanced lightning effects etc

Already have the trilogy on Xbox One, as well as Dark Souls 1 on PS3 so I'm not in any hurry to get the remaster. But I will probably get it for Switch someday when it's $20

Nintendo Switch, already have the game on Steam and the remaster does nothing for me, portable though, ohh boy that's a game changer for Dark Souls.

Given my Dark Souls 3 input lag on the PS4 (and Sonic Mania also has input lag on the PS4, though strangely not Bloodborne), my console of choice is the Switch. Although, to be fair, it would have been the Switch anyways. The Switch has changed the way I console game.

Hopefully, the remaster fixes online issues and redesigns Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith.

When they said remastered, will they also add DLCs or they will just really remaster the DS1? But still gonna try to get it on PC.

The only reason why I'm looking forward to buying it again is for its portability.

They're adding the 1 DLC that came out with the game.

I already have the game for the PS3 so I don't need to buy it again. But they really should of done a remaster of Demon's Souls instead.

I own it on PC and 360 which is BC on my X1. I'm good.

I'm waiting to see if they'll release the trilogy pack as they will in Japan.

Well, since they borked the co-op with friends easily on the original Dark Souls 1 version, I'm probably going to get this. Going to try to convince some friends to get it, too; particularly the ones that didn't play Dark Souls 1 yet.

i really hope it's not $60... i want to get it on switch for portability and PC for 60 FPS and online.

supposedly it has improved lighting and other visual updates so it may be a full on remake in the dark souls 3/bloodborne engine. the trailer looks like it was rendered in the dark souls 3 engine

This is the right answer. I'm not a DS fan, have never played the series, but why would anyone would pay AGAIN for a game they've already payed for before?

None. I still have it on PS3, and never finished it.

Dark Souls is over, at least for the short-term. FROMSOFT has been vocal about DS3 being the last in the series while holding open the possibility of returning down the road. And narratively, DS3 suggests that the universe has wound down.

As much as I loved the game, not sure I'd ever play it again.

But PC if I do. Discount + likely best version.

No way I'm going through that again, one of the best games I've ever played, but I'm not going to try 20 times to see what's around the corner if I know what's going to be around the corner.

More importantly, FromSoftware's contract with Bandai Namco is over.

Here's a serious question: will they update the remaster to include more competent PvP tools that were introduced in later games? Or is it faux pas to alter the game in that respect?

As welcome as it was at the time, the arena/coliseum PvP system was not very good, IMO.

I'll be getting it on the Xbox One, besides being my preferred console for all my multiplats, it's also the only console I bother paying for any online features for. Though I do hope they do justice for the X1X version, I'm not holding my breath that they'll make any worthwhile attempt.

I was hoping more for a Demon Souls remaster since I haven't played it yet. I put enough time into Dark Souls I need to play it again.
