Red Dead Redemption is coming to Switch and PS4

Rockstar just announced RDR is coming to Switch and PS4

That's the news. It's not a remaster like so many leakers predicted, it's a simple port.

Xbox One X is still the superior version with native 4K resolution.

And then there is Xenia Canary for those poor PC gamers out there, bereft of any native ports.

Oh and it's coming the 17th of August, digital only at first for 49.99 dollars. Physical version on the 13th of October.

Rockstar is so damn lazy. I hope GTA6 Online is a disaster, and they're back at actually trying to release quality, but who am i kidding, it will be a massive cash cow, and they won't need to release anything cuz it'll be printing them money like Fartnite.

Well that’s very disappointing. Already have the Xbox 360 version so I can just replay this on my Xbox Series X. At least it saves me money. 😅

As a Californian, let me just say in my people's native tongue...yeah, no.

I’m the sucker that will buy it on Switch since I currently have no other way to play it and have been wanting to play it for the first time recently.

yeah so back when Microsoft updated RDR for their new Xbox One X console (the 4K port was done by them) the game was on sale and I believe costed somewhere between 15-20 for the GOTY edition.

Now Rockstar is porting this and it's suddenly 49.99 for the same exact game as on PS3, with zero enhancements.

Inflation bruh.

£50 is a joke for a simple port of the ps3 game with no enhancement.

I guess the old SW meme of "Red dead redemption is never coming to PC" still rings true.

Every PC gamers are asking where's the PC port is without realising the Switch port is indeed the PC port😉😅

The game holds up tremendously, the art style is still amazing and the characters are still hilarious and endearing.

having said that, with no enhancements being put in (higher resolution, higher framerate) the asking price is a hard bargain. I say you should definitely look into RDR 1 ... when it inevitably goes on sale in November.

The game is still very good. A timeless classic imo. I'm very curious to see how it runs on the switch.

@robert_sparkes: true the eshop is overflowing with asset flips so no way will gamers find this old game when it's burried under an avalanche of that trash.

I picked this up to play on my Series X for $9.89 and it plays at 4k. $49.99 at release sound like Nintendo prices. Happy I picked it up when I did, it looks like it is now $29.99 on the xbox store. I am curious if this is just the PS3 port or if anything was reworked.

After months of talk about a remaster, after years of talk of a possible PC release... extremely.

I'll be the first to say: this game doesn't need a remaster. The assets still hold up well enough and even at 4K this game is a looker. Still, a higher framerate, higher resolution, higher draw distance... people aren't asking much when the asking price is 50 buckaroos.

I just hope this Switch/PS4 releasse opens the door to a PC port.

I thought the inclusion of the RDR1 map made it obvious there would be a port in not too long...

Fans took it upon themselves to start porting RDR 1 into RDR2, but it got shut down quite quickly.

I took these 4K screenshots a while back and I think it really hits home the fact that this game could shine if only R* were to unlock it.

Meaning a PC/PS5/Xbox One version at 4K/60

Alas all we are getting is the same 720/30 game for 50 a pop.

I've been saving my MS rewards for Target giftcards but something tells me to blow it on another game because this one will definitely hit the sales in due time.

I actually enjoy RDR2 way more so and I stop caring about RDR long ago as 2 is just more inferior with better gunplay at that.

This Remaster does nothing for me. Would be nice if Rockstars can do something with Bully for a change.

Only thing wrong with this is the price, but I would hope people would reconsider it when it goes on sale. Still a fun game to play. Fired it up the other day just because I had an itch to play Liars Dice.

@davillain: I'm probably the wrong person to make comments on them. I won't say I hate them, but I do have a distain for the practises the company as a whole.

And I find their games pretty boring.

I played Bully back in the day on the 360, it was OK but I was over it by the end.
