I feel like in recent years there have been a fair amount of games remastered that were never really all that popular. Stuff like Shadowman, Bloodrayne, or Stubs the Zombie. I was pretty surprised when these got rereleased on modern platforms, they all have fairly small cult followings and weren't that huge even in their day. That said, I was happy to see them come back. They represent a segment of gaming that was gone for a while, the AA game that didn't get the budget or polish of a bigger release, but had a unique premise or charm to them.
This got me thinking about other under the radar games I used to enjoy, and would like to see get a new life on modern platforms:
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. This was a fun shooter from gen 6 about a small, cynical robot fighting an army of robots that are glitching out. Not amazing, but solid shooter with a good sense of humor.
Extreme G. Always in the shadow of F-Zero and Wipeout, these games unpolished but had great track design and neat weapons. XGRA especially would benefit from having it's frame rate cleaned up.
Stuntman. Exactly what it sounds like, you drive vehicles through elaborate movie sets, trying to get the shot right. These games were good fun, especially for high-score chasers.
Black and Bruised. Like Ready 2 Rumble, but no one talks about it anymore.
Heavy Metal: Geomatrix. Remember the Spawn arcade game? This was like Capcom made a sequel to that, but with half the budget, and a less popular license. Surprisingly, this resulted in a better game. Scaling back the sprawling levels to simple arenas made this into a pretty awesome arena shooter/brawler.
So what are some games you don't hear about much anymore that would still be fun to revisit?
