10.28 vs 12.
So the Github leaks were true. They just clocked it even higher at 2.2GHz rather than just 2GHz. The leakers saying they were within 10% were also wrong.
Nice machine though. That SSD is dope.
This gen is starting out bad for Sony fanboys, not only did they lose the power war but Sony also admitted defeat and switched PSN over to MS servers.
Cerny did say TF doesn't matter, it's how you use it ;)
But overall, the specs aren't bad, to say the least, the price and what launch exclusive games are still the most important part. Honestly again, I am just happy that they announced that the storage will still be user-upgradable and will not be proprietary. That's a big deal to the consumers.
I find it quite interesting that the PS5 went for 36 CUs vs XSX's 52 CUs, and simply clocked them higher. Essentially, raw speed vs more cores.
Wonder what will be the implications for performance capabilities and power consumption? XSX might be more capable at doing more stuff per cycle, but the PS5 might be more efficient.
This very high clock might offset CU count advantage that XSX has. Isn't it known that a 5700 will perform quite better at games running at 2ghz vs a 5700XT running normal game clock. 2.3ghz in a console is insane and not to be underestimated.
@r-gamer: PS5 has built the logic of the PlayStation 4’s systems into the chipset, which means that games are able to be played natively, with boosts thanks to the PlayStation 5’s better hardware. The reason why not all games are compatible from the start is that games are obviously not built to handle the boosts, and so may not work properly on the system. Sony said they tested the top 100 played games and they all ran on PS5, they didn't say it was only 100 games to be BC. In other words, no PSX/PS2/PS3 BC is super disappointing.
@gago-gago: "Not 100% PS4 backward compatibility too. "
If it's only limited to PS4 bc to XSX's Xbox/360/Xone compatibility, then that will suck big time.
"What a disaster the PS5 is turning out to be"
The focus on 3D Audio seems unnecessary. And based on his presentation, it seems like it still a work in progress.
@SolidGame_basic: PS4 GPU was 1.84tf and Xbox One was 1.3Tf. If you want to count the X as a new gen then yeah at 6tf it won.
From an engineering perspective it's a little bit odd on but understandable if the speculation is true, what we see is that XSX has a wider but lower clocked shader front-end and assymetric memory design (great for Compute based algorithms), whereas PS5 has high clocked back-end with a consistent memory bus (better Graphics/Raster performance especially in unoptimized Nvidia/Gameworks-like games, at the expense of Compute). It's a bit ironic since PS4 was built around leveraging heavy compute, but Sony would opt of an easier game developer route PS5 that would offer better real performance upfront.
@nfamouslegend: but MS is also releasing the Lockhart at 4tf.. Only difference from series X and One X is timing of release in that aspect. Multiplats are going to look the same lol. The difference in flops is less than Pro and X for crying out loud. Good luck Xbots at pretending games are going to look different with dimensioning returns. It all comes down to the developers at the end of the day.

Almost all of the top 100. :P
It lost all wars the only win is the ssd.
To me, it looks like Sony is still working out some details. Not everything is set in stone. They will reveal more when the time is right. Like "How much RAM is available for games" was never discussed.
@SolidGame_basic:
Sony won the GPU war with PS4
PS2 vs Xbox: MS win
PS3 vs X360: MS win
PS4 vs XBO: Sony win, MS distracted by Knect.
PS4 Pro vs X1X: MS win
PS5 vs XSX: MS win
What about the power of the cloud like Microsoft said was possible with the original xbox one?
Hmm. Good idea. Try and deflect this awful presentation by talking ancient history on another console eh?

Bro its not about power its bout how you use power with games. Its about the games at the end of the day and Microsoft doesn't have good ones.

Very true. Please tell me about those PS5 games you are looking forward to that Sony has confirmed.
No surprises here really... I was expecting around 10 tflops. It'll be interesting to see if the gaming media makes a big deal of the power difference between the 2 consoles, like they did with PS4 V XB1. I'm guessing suddenly it won't matter this time... hmmm.
And the half-arsed BC Sony is offering is pathetic tbh. XsX wins again in this department too.
I've gotta give Sony and the PS5 a big fat L. This thing doesn't even seem ready to launch this year. And I've owned every Playstation since the PS2(except the Pro) yet never owned an Xbox in my life(except my gaming PC lul). But yeah Microsoft seems like they are way more ready to launch this year and Sony is just doing it so Microsoft doesn't get an early lead. They should've just said f*** it and waited till next year when they were better prepared. I'd rather have a more complete product. Microsoft already has Youtubers holding the console in their hands and playing it, PS5 hasn't even shown a single f***ing game let alone what the chassis looks like. Not to mention the backwards compatibility isn't even comparable. "Hoping for most of the top 100 PS4 games" compared to all Xbox One games and also prior generations.
Honestly Sony after the immense lack of exclusives this gen compared to prior gens, the way they handled cross play, and other matters... this might be the first time I just skip out on a Playstation completely since the PS2. I'll probably just stick to PC and Switch. Nothing so far really excites me about this new gen in general. And they still haven't really talked about if playing at lower resolution like 1440p can allow you to run 100+ FPS. I have a 1440p 144hz monitor so that is a 100% deal breaker for me. I simply can't do 60fps max anymore on action and shooter games. It gives me headaches to look at 60fps and 30 is a flat out joke.
@hrt_rulz01: Wait, is XSX BC with OG Xbox & 360 as well?
Yes! BUT only for the games that are already compatible with the One.
Okay, that makes sense, thanks. Though I won't be getting XSX, I just wanted to make sure on the BC side. Still, MS has the advantage on BC...for now at least.
So half baked BC from Sony and I bet they won't be able to be visually enhanced or performance enhanced? Pass if so.
but they will win the war when warhawk 2 is shown
I been seeing you say this alot. warhawk was my ps 3 and game of that gen. most fun ever online. i pray for this all the time. love to see mix of starhawk and warhawk. the base drop part of starhawk not game play
