STALKER 2 will reportedly feature significant survival elements. The main character will need to be fed well, otherwise, hunger may reduce abilities and cause a rapid loss of stamina. On the other hand, once you've eaten properly, you'll be able to cover long distances more quickly.

Likewise, sleeping will be a requirement. Spend over a day without any shuteye and your character's eyesight will begin deteriorating, along with stamina loss (again) and possibly even hallucinations, eventually. There are some quick remedies like consuming an energy drink, but they can only work for so long.

According to GSC Game World, over thirty quest designers have been working on the plot of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl. The estimated length (likely including side content) is around a hundred hours and non-linearity will be a key factor as players progress through the game.

Thats incredible just incredible. survival and immersive sim mechanics are what it needed. so it wont be shooty shooty FPS. but a pure immersive sim.

Btw why are those flowers in the first picture looking so good? I kinda smell some bullshots here. After having looked into those pictures some more, there is too much detail in the environment. Smells fishy to me. Its like Anthem looking amazing and have so much detail when it was first shown, but when it came out, it wasn't anywhere near as detailed.

Metro is far more deeper than Crysis ever was. I would consider STALKER 2 dumbed down if it follow Crysis 1 route ie having regen health and on rail segments.

luckily STALKER 2 is survival immersive game. none of these will feature.

Eastern European magic.

Metro Exodus was a real looker, and eventhough we should always be careful with bullshots I will say this:

UE5 allows for some crazy environmental detail. There are already many tech demos out there that look at least this good.

Prey 1 wasn't a PC exlcusive. Deus Ex was already consolized wuth Invisible war. One of the worst examples.

I totally agree with Cup with Stalker 2. It may look good on paper as of now, but I'm gonna keep my expectations low until I play the game for myself. I'm not even hype for this but I will play it day one. I hope it delivers nonetheless.

I'm not really a fan of the "you have to eat and sleep" in survival games ... most of the time, this gets really annoying really fast or it ends up being an irrelevant feature.

Still ... this looks good but its way, way too early to tell.

Alot of the stuff seems to be lifted from the mod community.

And yea, some mods do go a bit too far in the survival aspect in the name of "hardcore" where it goes from fun to "work".

However, part of the appeal of Stalker is a brutal game world where the player feels like a cog than the centre of the universe.

Never really get that with other open-world/semi games. Always feel like theme parts where can very obviously see the designer's hand. What Stalker lacks in polish it makes up for in a lack of artificiality.

The first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is one of the best bad games I've ever played. It got so much wrong, but what it got right was made for a compelling and oddly enjoyable game. The question is, can this sequel recapture the magic of the original while fixing what it got wrong?

And that is the only reason why there's some slight chance of the game looking THIS good being real. If it was made by anybody else, no way we're getting this kind of visuals early next year. It claps everything released by such a large margin that its kinda funny, actually.

sounds deep, ambitious, huge and no doubt will be semi-broken on launch. Can't wait honestly, this game is the deadline for me to upgrade my PC by.

Now that i think of it, how is it that Infinite looks this ugly and 343i had so much trouble releasing it when this is generations ahead in visuals? The difference is insane. Its like comparing a launch 7th gen title to a 9th gen one.

Yeah man, it's always nice to have this one game that's head and shoulders above the rest.

Because nothing screams such immersion in today's marketplace than forcing it upon the player though hand-holdy set pieces instead of letting it arise naturally out of a dynamic world of independently emergent systems.

Yeah I'm jaded. Relative to the original game, my expectations are rock bottom for this. The best I can say for it is it's on my radar, but when all's said and done, I believe it will turn out to be an average, enjoyable, but ultimately forgettable experience in the end.

Arkane still make immersive sims, new System shock remake still looks immersive, Doom and Eternal are still old schoolish. why STALKER single out not being immersive sim?

even STALKER developers doesnot have 1/4th of budget MS have. they are still indie developers.

I have explain him but he ignore all news regarding this and claim its all shooty scripted. when infact its survival game.

he wants this game to be failed and will be proven to be wrong once it release. (or month later if modded).

I bring up Halo in a stalker thread because the graphical difference is the biggest i've seen between two shooters in a very long time. Halo looks incredibly ugly compared to what's shown here.

yeah same. survival game sounds exciting on paper, in practice often ends up becomes an ultimately pointless tokenistic time sink repeatedly dragging you out of the flow of the game. probably more chance succeeding if it's an open play-your-way type of game. the more linear, the more likely you'll be forever having to scour every nook and cranny to scavenge loot to restock before the next action sequence *cough tlou2

Now that i think of it, how is it that Infinite looks this ugly and 343i had so much trouble releasing it when this is generations ahead in visuals? The difference is insane. Its like comparing a launch 7th gen title to a 9th gen one.

Ugly? Silly billy. You must have missed DF’s bit on Infinite…..Halo is nearly as gorgeous as I am. But then again, trust you to bring up Halo in a Stalker 2 thread.

I bring up Halo in a stalker thread because the graphical difference is the biggest i've seen between two shooters in a very long time. Halo looks incredibly ugly compared to what's shown here.

You’re judging that on 720p pictures or 1440p video. Not that I need, but DF have praised Halo and that’s good enough for me and enough to dismiss your silly ugly claim.

You don't need to listen to DF or anybody else. You have a pair of eyes and you have the game. You know it looks subpar even for titles release five plus years ago, but you will never admit it (this applies to all MS exclusive titles) because you're a lem. I understand you. And don't even bother talking about resolution. The geometrical detail seen in Stalker2 is generations ahead of what's in Infinite.

Yeah I'm jaded. Relative to the original game, my expectations are rock bottom for this. The best I can say for it is it's on my radar, but when all's said and done, I believe it will turn out to be an average, enjoyable, but ultimately forgettable experience in the end.

Arkane still make immersive sims, new System shock remake still looks immersive, Doom and Eternal are still old schoolish. why STALKER single out not being immersive sim?

Even better, I saw the supposed trailer of the fraeking gameplay. I didn't say shooty shooty, I said scripted, which is a big distinction that has much broader application in gameplay implementation, although what the trailer showed in terms of combat was nigh indiscernible from what the worst of what CoD and Battlefield have to offer. Christ, we're one step away from the developers coming out and bragging about booster paks and monetization bullshit to up your survival probabilities.

Scripted is what it looks to be. Don't blame that on me, blame it on the game's marketing, because that's precisely what they've shown. Perhaps only FOR the marketing, that could be and remains to be seen, but considering the shift of market trends towards cinematic experiences since the original's release (and please, spare me the TLoU response, I've already explained that to you), I am not holding my breath. Often STALKER's best moments are low-key and subtle, and that doesn't sell in snippets, so I'm willing to make some accommodations here......some. Not many.

@hardwenzen: If that's the case, just wait for the mods community to release patches that make it more like the original game.

Mods cannot fundamentally change what a game is, it operates under the umbrella of the engine and what that engine is built around and enables. If this is cinematically structured, no amount of mods will change it back to the way STALKER initially was. They are fundamentally different design philosophies at their very core.
