Woah.. are we about to have a breakout hit here, SW? I still don't get the mass appeal of this game, other than the attractive female characters lol. Will you be supporting the game at launch? I may fall for the hype..

I mean............Final Fantasy isn't being advertised with overt sexuality and skimpy outfits.

It would more impressive if they manage to actually SELL that many copies.

A lot of "mature" and "nsfw" games on steam have millions of downloads and they are priced under $5-10 for that reason.

I tried the demo and it wasn't for me.. which is a good thing since there are so many other games I want to get. Always nice to cross one off the list. Perhaps when it's like 20 or 30 bucks, but for now it's a pass.

Not a bad game by any means. It's just the exact same thing you'd expect from a game like this, it's been done a thousand times before, and I passed on 98 percent of those as well.

I have still not played Sekiro and it's on sale for 30 right now so I might check it out instead.

Bad publicity is good publicity.

There was nothing controversial about the game in the first place.

A whiny group of people just looking for something new to be outraged about, and when they come without legitimacy, it tends to service the target more than not with free publicity.

Next stat is the amount "playing" the game one handed.

All this proves is that PS5 has the most teenage boys and creepy men on its platform, congrats I guess.

Demo players isn't a useful statistic in determining popularity.

I still remember when pretty much every game on PC or the early days of ps3/360 when most every game had a demo. Some demos were played very very often but don't really paint the full picture many times in sales.

In the tweeted comparison there they are comparing a game demo for a direct sequel with the same gameplay and engine as the first, to the demo of an entirely new IP. Not a good comparison, because FF Rebirth has no real need to play the demo to understand what it's about.

People are playing this demo so much that people have spent over 50 hours playing this 1 hour demo. I'm surprised by how much time people are spending on the demo.

If people play the demo too much they might end up being overpowered in the main game because the stuff you get in the demo carries over to the main game.

Demo's are free, ganes are not, so it doesn't matter how many are playing it.

Agreed. Stellar Blade did nothing wrong. If anything, the Soulslike genre is usually dominated by male heroes, making Stellar Blade the first major Soulslike with a female heroine. This could've been something worth celebrating, but instead a certain loud minority of Internet liberals chose to get outraged over the heroine being *gasp* attractive!

Stellar Blade has now basically become the Hogwarts Legacy of 2024. Not that it would sell anywhere near as much (since Harry Potter is a huge IP), but it's benefitting from the same type of controversy.

Great graphics, gameplay and a sexy main character. That is how you get players into the game. Not overcharging for the game and making purposely unappealing characters like Starwars Outlaws.

Fable 4 isn't out yet but Microsoft may as well just cancel it because it hasn't a chance if your main character looks like a joke. And Fable series never had amazing enough gameplay to have a main character this bad. Horizon was able to get away with it because the gameplay is above the average.

Developers: The gameplay of this game is mediocre. what should we do?

Marketing: Let say the woke mob does not want you to play this game because of hot ladies and that the west doesn't like making games with hot women anymore.

Developers: Will that work? BG3 came out just last year and won all the awards and sold like hot cakes.

I tried the demo just to see what this was all about. The combat feels stiff. Girls are hot but I can jerk off to pornhub if I wanted to. I'm surprised the right isn't having a civil war over this game since the lead is a strong women.

While I don't personally have a problem with it because I view it as an artistic choice, if you cant understand why the design and portrayal of the female lead is controversial to some folks, then I'm not sure what to say lol.

In either case, time to move on lol. The demo is out, the hot woman was ogled by the horny teens, now it's either going to be a good game or not.

That said, I do hope this game turns out to be fun and sells well. I know I'm constantly defending "ugly" game chicks, but that's because people usually overreact to a female character's appearance. Folks should calm down and let the devs design what they want.

Those in the ideological Right have more pressing issues of greater importance than getting involved (and distracted) in the silly culture wars.
