@kazumakiryu21: I actually think CoH would be a great start for a beginner and WW2 fan, because it's got a straightforward campaign to learn from and is semi squad-based (meaning you control fewer units in groups instead of tons of individual ones).
The Dawn of War games are similar, although set in Warhammer 40K of course
A new game in that squad vein is Ancestors Legacy, which I have found to be pretty entertaining. It's not very hard, although at times that's a con - feels a bit restrictive on your STRATEGY muscles at times
A bit dated now, but still great and I think has a nice gradual learning curve is Empire Earth 2. It's a more traditional and "historical" RTS but I feel the pacing of the game is pretty chill (at least against the computer) and you capture territories which adds kind of a Risk vibe to it.
There aren't too many I'd actively avoid, although I would say that Starcraft is a must-play (and free now from Blizzard) yet it is definitely a "clicks per minute" game that could be pretty tough as a first RTS
Thanks Xantu. Need to get into RTS to pass the lockdown time in my country, played all my fav action games or cant afford the newer games right away. Want to explore RTS , i guess i will start with Stracraft as its free as you mentioned and get COH or DOW games on sales next time. I'll explore the historical RTS games later as i was also thinking about CIV games. I will ask for you for more recommendations down the line.
Thanks again Xantu.
