The Last of Us voted greatest game of all time

Another day another top 3 for The Last of Us and Zelda BOTW who always seem to get the first place spots.

Elden Ring lands at a highly deserved #3 spot. #3 is coincidentally exactly where I would place Elden Ring, after MGS4 and The Last of Us. After 500 hours of Elden Ring and 30 hours of Zelda:BOTW I do think Elden Ring should have placed higher, but cannot complain.

Zelda TOTK did not make the list

though MGS4 is my favourite game of all time (and must have for some reason not qualified for the list as I could not find it in the top 10... perhaps it classified as a movie due to cutscene length) I have to said objectively The Last of Us is the best game ever made and agree with the consensus.

Why is it that these general surveys never hit up actual gaming communities to cast their votes.

I'd probably disagree with whatever they picked anyways, all the same it's hardly the greatest game of all time.

Never played it but it looks like a great game. I really haven’t played much PS titles since the PS2 early years,and yet again not many of them. I switched to the Xbox original when it came out.

FIfa, madden and COD are the top three most sold games.

Did you play MGS 2? It's one of the games that comes to mind when people say early PS2 years.

Skimmed through the list a bit.. wtf. BioShock at #7. Was a good game and all, but #7 videogame of all time? No dude, lol. I've never met someone either on the internet or irl who thinks that. Elden Ring is probably my least favorite Souls game, #3 of all time? Gtfo. A GTA game at #8. Ew.

Looks like a list somebody not very invested in videogames made in a few minutes while just not thinking about better games that exist. Guess it would be boring to have the top 10 consisting of basically only Nintendo games, but it would be correct.

Overall, a laughable #1 on a laughable list.

Pure horse biscuits! Uncharted 4 being on the list at all is ridiculous, but it beating Diablo 2 is just insanity.

I don't think ever came across one of these "most ever" lists actually agreed with.

Not that much of a great game but with the series blowing up and being a title that's very accessible for casuals gamers it isn't that surprising. Interesting that a shitty game like MGS4 makes it.

I'm sure much of the Empire base that do these votes aren't even gamers. I'm sure the TV show gave a good boost of recognition to TLoU as well. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a large chunk of the people who voted only did it because they watched the show.

It always has to be non-gaming publications that push these "best ever" surveys yet I never seem to be in the know when these surveys are happening. Perhaps real gaming communities aren't where these surveys get solicited.

I love TLOU so it will probably be on my top 5 of all time.

But for best of all time, for me it would be a tuff choice from Zelda ALTTP or Chrono Trigger.

I would also have Castlevania SOTN and the Original Resident Evil on top 5.

If it isn't the best game, I think most would agree it's in the top 10 on most gamers list. I think I could make a top 10 but it wouldn't be in any kind of order.

Decent game for sure. One of the highlights of a pretty slow year. Wouldn't be my fav of 2013, but it might scratch the top 5.

But yeah, no two people will ever agree on one of these lists. Personally wouldn't have TLOU in my top 100. Just so many good/great games over the years.

@clockworkbanana: Generic zombie story? That's one take. Another take is it is a really great story in the video game medium. I lean towards it being a great story. Not my favorite game, but the story was great. It's won many awards for the story as well, but that means less to me than my own actual thoughts after playing, and even my wife got caught up in the story of the game from the very intro. She never follows my game stories. To each their own.

This here is the most plausible explanation for the poll results.

I clicked the link for shits and giggles, and for once, I'm actually seeing stuff that I like such as Sonic, Yakuza, Shenmue, Valkyria Chronicles, etc. I couldn't care less about the order, or ranking articles in general, I just find it funny how perception fluctuates over time. Rankings from 2004 I'd see stuff like TIE Fighter ranked #2; 10 years ago I wouldn't see a single SEGA game, and now I'm reading an article with like 5 of them lol.

Greatest single player and multiplayer experience in the last 10 years, hard to believe there was a time when you could get both at high quality in one game.

I had a quick glance at the list, and stopped at Yakuza Kiwami. Of all of the excellent games in the series, they picked the single worst modern Yakuza game? Yeah, this list is trash.

No FF6? GTA5 in the top ten? Huh.

I assume they deliberately picked bad choices in order to drive up engagement. It's the only thing that makes sense.

@Mozelleple112: I have no fucks to give when it comes to polls. IGN crowned God of War 18 as the best game of all time and that was it for me. I laughed hard though.

Bloodborne is only 26.... there still people who not experienced greatness :(

in term of impact Bioshock was quite big when it was released everyone talked about the game and that twist villain. Game itself is just serviceable.
