Teh next gen.
I "like" how the video runs at 30fps... lolconsoles
also testing engine on some third person movie game.
indeed lolconsoles.
I want to see this demoed on a PC with a higher frame rate, eventually. Sony games are bound to look beyond fantastic if this is an indicator though.
Damn, I know some of my former colleagues gonna be happy with that.
Last company I was at was big on cultural heritage preservation/experiences. Crazy large scale environment scans. Stuff like the entirety of Petra, all the Chichen Itza sites, Bethlehem sites, etc.
But of course the amount of work to get that stuff performing well in engine was overwhelming at times.
Of course this isn't some instant solve. The best scans still have tons of issues both in geo and texture, doesn't matter if it's Lidar, photogrammetry, etc. And of course anything with a different range of material properties needs to be accounted for. So remesh>clean>bake>texture is still needed for final assets. Buuuuut this definitely opens up the ability to work in parallel with accurate proxies.
Of course already looks great in this vid, but Quixel assets (much like allegorithmic assets) already been thru the pipe.
30 fps is pretty lame, but it does look cool. I'd rather see an actual game running with ai and all that stuff as opposed to a tech demo. Both consoles are going to deliver on the graphics front next gen. It never amazes me what Sony 1st parties can produce on their given hardware.
I can't believe people are bitching about the 30FPS. There currently isn't a game with that level of detail and overall fidelity yet 30FPS is the sticking point.🤷♂️
Yup, this is the equivalent of doing some VFX previz on a console.
No need for assets to be this heavy, it's just cool that they can do it.

This is the tech I have been waiting on. I hate baking lights and hate managing my triangle count. Let me just build and let the computer figure the rest.
Now that is how you show off what next gen consoles could do, instead of that borefest MS showcased last week.
@Pedro:
It has Tomb Raider vibe.
UE4 with photorealistic graphics (2019) with enough GPU power.
I want to see this demoed on a PC with a higher frame rate, eventually. Sony games are bound to look beyond fantastic if this is an indicator though.
Its UE5 so I'd say all the multiplat games I love are going to be awesome on both consoles with technology easing development struggles a bit more
Now this is how you showcase the next generation.
My mind was blown by this demo.
But it's still just a demo. Not something you can actually play.
That is what last Thursday should have been for Series X. If they showed this the complaints would have been non-existent.
Teh next gen.

Note: The PS5 UE5 tech demo runs with dynamic resolution scaling and temporal upsampling. Typical rendering resolution is 1440p but it does vary

Nah, they said they were showing new games last Thursday. This was just Epic showing a tech demo that Epic made. If MS said they were showing new partner games last Thursday and showed a tech demo by Epic that isn't even a game, MS would have gotten SLAUGHTERED.

I disagree. The average gamer wanted to see next gen. This is next gen and it would have suffice. This actually has gameplay. Not deep gameplay but Sony-esque gameplay.

1440p variable resolution without BVH raytracing.
1440p variable resolution without BVH raytracing.
What are you talking about? And don't give me an unnecessary long response.
You argued, "That is what last Thursday should have been for Series X. If they showed this the complaints would have been non-existent." and you omitted PS5's variable 1440p resolution with XSX's target audience. Think again.
Now this is how you showcase the next generation.
No you showcase next-gen with games. Not a fucking tech demo.
Every damn game is a demo before it is complete man.
They showed what actual gameplay would look like if this was a game.
No unplayable angles bullshit, this demo basically walk over all the crap MS has spew for months the net is on fire now.
Now this is why i say that sony only need little to top MS,this is a well played move MS was slam for showing cut scenes 1 week latter a demo running on PS5 appear.
The art of war.

That literally has nothing to do with my comment. This is why I am convinced some of your lights are broken.
Only thing that seems suspect is that statue.
Sure you could run decimation master on a ZB model and kick that thing out of Zbrush at 30 million tris, no prob. But you can't get those textures out of ZB like that and you most definitely cannot get those differing PBR values out of ZB.
So you'd do that externally. Substance or Quixel would choke, but it's possible. Mari could lift that asset easily, but PBR workflow is a headache. Basically it would defeat the purpose as it would take you much longer than just going with a standard workflow.
The flip side to that would be that the sculpt was already remeshed and UV'd and this is just a higher div of a multiresolution ZB model that was already textured on a lower div. The most likely case.
Which at that point it's still impressive to have that many tris in engine... but that base level remesh is still basically LOD work lol. And all you did was trade baking time for even more time working out reprojection in Zbrush.
Impressive to have that in engine, sure, but definitely misleading.

Well they did say the model was directly from Zbrush not that it was textured in Zbrush.

Hint: Variable resolution at 1440p on XSX will attract negative remarks.
My lights are working.
Think again.

There is genuinely nothing for me to say besides, you are really an idiot.

This is my point as well, but i am sure MS will fallow soon because it is on..😁

Well is a demo not a finish game, but it would be the same on series X or a little bit higher,in no way it would be 4k if it was 1440p or lower on PS5.
Never the less it looked impressive.
This is awesome, i wasn't a fan of UE4 and the soft, plasticky look and feel.
This looks much more organic and realistic
I am more interested in the data management but I know what you are talking about the plasticky look. That tends to be more of a content creator issue than the engine itself.
