There has been confusion going around regarding Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu & Let's Go Eevee's online features with some outlets saying it lacks it, some saying it doesn't and some questioning if it'd use Nintendo's Online Subscription. In light of this, Famitsu has obtained some clarification regarding it stating that it will have online battles and trades, will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription and lacks features such as GTS, Battle Spot and Wonder Trade. The Pokémon Company states that the online is to be simplified

Japanese Variety Show, Oha Suta, to share "shocking" Pokémon news on May 31st 2018, which is listed as "a moment a new story begins". This episode is due to air at 07:05 JST on Thursday May 31st 2018. At present it's not clear what the news is but we'll provide full details as they come

I suggest you 2 go and look at the sales numbers for

a) How they sell today compared too years ago

b) How the home console games have sold compared to the hand held versions

c) The install base available for the platforms they were released on compared to Switch

a) Irrelevant. Latest entries sold in excess of 16M. Yes they were selling 20M+ at their peak but this isn't what we're discussing

b) There has never been a main Pokemon game on home consoles. Are we supposed to compare Pokemon Snap to Pokemon Red and Blue?

c) This is precisely why he called it a system seller which it is. People buy systems to play games they want. People want Pokemon, they will buy a Switch for it. It's a game meant to drive Switch sales up, no the other way around.

God I hope not. The battle system is the main draw of Pokemon for me. I would love to see a system where you could see and identify Pokemon in the wild before maybe pre-emptively throwing a Pokeball and starting the battle, though...

If this is pokemon switch, then I fully expect switch demand to jump, this is one of those titles that people buy an entire system for.

Shocking? Really? Yes, this will be big news and yes this will be good for Nintendo, but it will almost certainly not having anything shocking about it announced/revealed/developed.

Never cared for Pokemon, but a lot do, if they release something for Switch then Switch sales will go crazy, and that means it will attract the eyes of Japanese third parties, which will be good, so good news.

Then again I wouldn't be surprised if they announced some kind of anniversary re-release for 3DS.

The install base was much higher when the original pokemon games came out.

The home console games have been mere shells of the experience you get on the handhelds. Pokemon Stadium/Colosseum are definitely not Pokemon games in the traditional sense.

This would be correct, but it's irrelevant. Switch just came out so you cannot criticize the install base. Secondly, Switch doubles as a handheld, so this will make the sales that much more interesting.

No. Even if it was on PS, cows would still crap on it for being kiddy and call it "not a true JRPG unlike Persona/Final Fantasy/Tales of/etc" or whatever (that's why like any other Nintendo IP, I don't see Pokemon surviving on the PlayStation or any other non-Nintendo System), like the fighting game community do the Smash series.

I'm not even sure why he's comparing console spin-offs to the main titles, it's completely laughable!

It's still Pokemon....and correct me if I wrong but has the Switch version been confirmed to be a main entry because as far as I'm concerned sheep are hyping vapourware.

Well the Switch is gonna sell a trillion units this Holiday. That looks like something that will set the world on fire. Multiplayer Pokemon? A Pokeball you can carry around and interact with the Pokemon inside? It shares data with Pokemon Go...

It still a full on RPG experience like past Pokemon game, but they just showed us the gameplay trailer.

Gen 8 Pokemon title is coming out next year. So it's 2 years of Nintendo Domination!

There's still is, next year is Gen 8 Pokemon. This is like a Sequel to Pokemon Yellow and bridge young Pokemon Go players to the mainline titles as well as bring the nostalgia towards the Adults that played Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow 20 years ago. In fact, this is a title for a wider audience, while next years Gen 8 will be for competitors.
