Video Game Awards 2020 for GOTY are up and ready! Sony has this in the bags it seems!

What do you know, both Ghost of Tsushima & TLOU2 are Sony's exclusive was obvious so no surprise, and Nintendo's Animal Crossing: New Horizons is up for GOTY nominee. Sorry Xbox fans, better luck next time...if ever to get nominated GOTY.

The award stuff, eh. Ads. Always has been. Poor old Knightley lad tries desperately to make it come across as anything but. Kind of painful, but then you realize he's part of the problem and empathy quickly dissipates.

I bet Animal Crossing gets it.

I hope New Horizons actually wins this as I put almost 200 hours into that game and it's very addictive.

Never cared for the game awards. Everything that I see mentioned is textbook. Its like a glorified gaming website.

Ghost of Tsushima deserves it.

Fantastic game.

You'd have to know the 95 media/influencer panel to really have a grasp on what would be likely to win GOTY. It's hard to even guess.

I'm always confused by these GOTY awards that select their nominations with like 1.5 months left in the year.

anyways, Hades is my pick from that list, but I've only played it and Doom Eternal (which is also great)

Wow, 3 out of the 6 are Sony exclusives. Amazing. It's been a great year for gaming (not much else lol). FF7 Remake is my personal GOTY. Such a great game. I just got Hades for Switch, and usually I don't like these types of games, but this one is perfect. Loving it so far. Still haven't played Doom Eternal, waiting for that GOTY edition. And never played Animal Crossing, but the last time I tried to get into one I got bored immediately. And lol @davillain- for calling out Xbox's lack of compelling games this year. It will always be about the games!

I've watched TGA the other day from 2014-2019. I realized there was no Xbox exclusive nominated for GOTY the entire gen. It was always a battle with PS4 and Nintendo

man 2020 was a good year for us Cows and sheeps (hades).

FF7R > Hades > Doom > ACNH > TLOU

I always enjoy watching this show and am looking forward to watching it this year as well. I think that Animal Crossing: New Horizons probably is the strongest contender but Final Fantasy VII Remake is a top choice as well.

Will of the Wisps deserves to be up there, nice to see Hades get nominated though. I will be rooting for Animal Crossing.

The last show was a bit of a mess if I recall, but honestly the award should go to Hades and if TGA likes to go with the unexpected game like they did last year with Sekiro, Hades would make an interesting win.

I mean it was sold out everywhere for a while. I played it for a bit but I gave it to my kids after a while.

Easy pass. I haven’t even played any of the GotY contenders - nor do I care to. Never even heard of Hades.

GO TLOU2! Damn, Xbox. Another shut out. They actually had two games worthy of the top spot this year too. Oh well.

I haven't played Ghost of Sushi or TLOU2, but I am pretty sure I am going to like them. I wouldn't even nominate the other games. So, I choose nothing.

Really "meh" list honestly. I love Doom but its not really a game of the year type title imo. The PS games are all lackluster too, but maybe this year has been for gaming.

Pulling for Doom... one of the best FPS I have ever played. The ballet of death is so graceful once you get cooking.

OVerall though... This list is pretty solid and all titles are worthy. I dont think there are any snubs.

The VGA is for everyone, not just NA thing and besides, "The World Premier" games is the best part some of us want to see.

I guess the largest majority will go to Animal Crossing since casuals and sheep will be voting it. Sony has 3 games the votes will be split to. Hope FF7R or TLoU Part 2 can win.

@sakaixx: I really love Animal Crossing: New Horizons & Ghost of Tsushima but it's hard to pick which one I wanna lean on. I'm considering going with GoT since that's a brand new IP game by Sucker Punch. FF7 Remake was fun and TLOU2 was so, so depending on who you ask.

Its a television production done to the standards NA appreciate. The rest of the world don't care.

The only entertaining thing to happen would be if the Animal Crossing game wins, either way i won't be watching, never have never will, and besides doesn't that guy have a boner for Kojima???

I am a PS4 user. This whole list is still meh. I enjoyed animal crossing as well. Still not GOTY material.

So did you find it odd the Ori or Flight Simulator didn't get a nod?

I know nothing of the Hades game, but everything that's nominated are games aimed at casuals.

Wow, the Best Narrative category is appalling. Cannot judge 13 Sentinels, but the other four are either mediocre, Hades or Ghosts, or terrible, FFVIIR and TLOU2.

Really the Games For Change list is the true Best Narrative nominees.

@davillain-: I personally don't get Animal Crossing. Tried AC New Leaf on the 3DS and just dont understand what this game is even about but anyhow this year a lot of solid contender personally. I would take out Hades for Microsoft Flight Simulator but only because I never played both and seems that MFS got a lot of love and buzz more than Hades.
