What do you think will be Switch 2 's gimmick?

What do you all think the “gimmick” change or addition will be for the Switch 2.

N64 had a weird controller and rumble pack.

Wii had motion controllers.

Wii U had the big gamepad screen.

DS had dual screens.

3DS had 3D effect.

Switch did the hybrid console/portable approach.

So what do you think will be their next thing?

Will have dual screen gameplay capabilities. Can use TV and Console as your two screens. Also won't need a Dock to connect to your tv, will work like your iPhone.

I think it'll have something to do with voice functionality. They need to have voice chat in the next console for crying out loud.

Having way less powerful hardware than other handhelds that have been around for years.

Kinda curious about this one myself. I am not seeing anything good enough to be its selling gimmick, and maybe Nintendo doesn't see it either, and that's why the system was delayed to 2025.

That's a good question, 'cause I just assumed it'd just be a beefier Switch.

How about analogs that won't break and last you an entire life cycle? 🤔

Don't consider switch being a hybrid console as a gimmick.

It's just convenient and good hardware design. It's just a clear evolution. Was successfull to the point where even valve decided to make a hybrid console and a bunch of other hybrids comming out now. Switch proved it's a format gamers want.

It will be overpriced. It's a gimmick Nintendo do well.

Honestly have no idea. All I want really is an upgraded Switch. Nintendo can really think outside the box though so it’s really difficult to predict what they may do.

Nintendo is too wild to predict.

I'd guess they'd go with easy success and make another Switch, but you never know with Nintendo.

If you scratch the screen some odor will appear

That or the screen having some kind of texture that lets you feel certain stuff.

The games will be $15 more expensive with a higher online price for nothing and a bunch of roms you can get in seconds.

Nintendo stamp of approval is coming back on the cover of each box. $10 increase in prices because of it.

I hope there's nothing radical they change just a 1080p 60 screen adding 4k when connected to TV.

Paid for BC. Insert a Switch game into your Switch 2? 5 bucks to play it. Teh innovation! ....I probably shouldn't give them ideas :P.

Nah in all seriousness there was a dual screen patent that was interesting a while back. Ok technically there was 3 screens but forget the 3rd. But it's unlikely since the Wii U was such a disaster. Nintendo also don't really make games that would benefit from a second screen. It was barely used on the wiiu and 3DS. There is also nothing left outside of XCX worth porting. That did use the touch screen but it could be put in a pause menu. Also having a dual screen steam deck would be pricey. I think Nintendo will want to stay around the 350 bucks mark at launch.

They could be working more with Nvidia to demonstrate other uses for tensor cores in games other than just DLSS. Generated text based on a whole load of factors for something like animal crossing for example. Or really advanced AI models for something like a new Nintendogs maybe. And a good drawing app that can interpret peoples doodles. Basically finding other uses for the GPU other than just graphics related work.

I don't think they are making a phone. I don't think the device will be pocket friendly (though I could see a switch mini at some point).
