Metal Gear 1 and 2, by which I mean the old 8-bit MSX games.

Those games are the missing link between the Big Boss saga and the Solid Snake saga. It would be a good way to reboot the Metal Gear franchise, with a reimagining of the Solid Snake origin story.

Like to see Hexen remade by Indefatigable (Amid Evil developer).

The original Heretic is unabashedly a Doom clone. It somewhat differentiates itself with a fantasy theme and an inventory system. But otherwise, it's a competent but run-of-the-mill clone.

Hexen: Beyond Heretic by comparison is significantly more ambitious. All the levels are interconnected with a hub, with the hub itself gradually opening up in reaction to the sublevels, like a spider-web untangling.

It also uses classes, where the player is limited in weapons, but each class changes play-style. Essentially melee/range/mix.

Where it fumbles is in that the "puzzles" are entirely a key-hunt. Flip switch on wall, with overly obtuse design and lack of visual indicators that quickly turns into frustration with a guide.

Also a problem where-by there isn't the enemy variety of something like the Doom series. Be seeing the same 4-5 enemies start to finish, with those enemies in a respawn loop.

Amid Evil gets compared to it, but it's closer to Heretic or Quake. It had a hub, but it's exactly copying Quakes where it just acts as a gate-way rather than the more sophisticated nature of Hexen.

This would be my answer. These were great games, but they feel lacking when compared to later games. I really want to see this part of the story unfold in the fashion of later games.

I would've said the first two Persona games, but maybe 1-4.

Maybe the original The World Ends With You.

I would argue the PS1 Spider-Man, though with the gameplay of Shattered Dimensions. Spider-Man 2 (the movie video game) as well.

I'm sure there's more, but this may take some thought.

Panzer Dragoon Quest. I have never played this but it sounds awesome, and I think a remake is the only way to go. The original sells for ridiculous amounts of money on ebay, Sega lost the source code so a remaster is unlikely, and even emulation is not great.

Geist. Concept was solid but controlls were loose, framerate was inconsistent, and AI was not great. Would love to see Nintendo give it another shot with a better developer.

Hexen has been mentioned, I agree.

Meh, enough with the remakes already. Feels like with all the released and upcoming remakes and general lack of originality from AAA devs these days, we need new games more than ever.

how is making remake means new ips and sequel disappeared?

why most of people are elergic to remakes when they are best to revisit old games?

we still have more new IPs every year!!

Star Ocean 3: Til the End of Time. That game already had a director’s cut but still needed more in terms of overhauling the save system and non-combat mechanics; while they’re at it they could either reframe the big plot revelation or retcon it all together. SO3 had the potential to be a close second best of the franchise behind Second Story so it’s a worthy target.

Alien: Isolation really needs a remake (despite the game itself being still good on PC version) with Raytracing cause that game really miss the mark for it. It be cool to see the Xenomorph in its real-time reflection on the surface.

My second choice would be Hydrophobia: Prophecy does in fact need a remake which is a forgotten game that was poorly executed when it launched back in 2011. With a remake, the gameplay needs to be done right this time and make the character manipulate the water which should have been the focus of, and add Raytracing while we're at it.

None.

If you are going to do a remake then just go the extra step and make a new entry in the series. If your remake is just a rehash with a new coat of paint and some other modest updates then what is the point.....other than to milk nostalgia?

Video games are supposed to be a creative venture, not just a technical update.

Having said that, I don't understand the allure of playing very old games to begin with. I previously owned a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle long ago....and I sure as hell didn't want the remake version decades later.

None I want new IP's over remakes and remasters if I want to play old games in 1080p I will just play on a emulator and use graphics mods. I wouldn't have a problem with remasters or remakes if the video game industry didn't depend on them so much. Games like TLOU and Dead Space do not need remakes they are cash grabs and not old enough. But they are games that I wouldn't mind having remakes that are old and deserving but I still would rather have new shit.

I always wanted to see Solid Snake fight Big Boss in a full 3D Metal Gear game.

@iambatman7986: The original Metal Gear definitely hasn't aged that well. But Metal Gear 2 has aged very well. It holds up very well compared to Metal Gear Solid. But I'd love to see MG 1 and 2 both have their plots fleshed out with MGS production values, and the graphics and gameplay updated to MGS5 standards. They could even serve as sequels to MGS5, since that comes chronologically before the original MG. And re-introducing a young Solid Snake on his first mission could serve as a great entry point for new potential Gen Z players who didn't grow up with MGS.

@R4gn4r0k: what if they looked like this?!

I'm torn because I generally prefer new IPs or sequels to remakes, but RE2remake was easily my favorite full PS4 game last gen (P.T. was the best thing I played). I just replayed Need For Speed Underground on PS2, and as good as it still is, some refinements and updated graphics would go a long way. But I agree that remakes should be at least from 2 gens prior.

- The Legend of Dragoon

- Tomba

- The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker

- Parasite Eve

- Xenosaga (I'm pretty sure it holds up well. I'd take a remaster.)

@ghosts4ever: I am not a fan overall of remakes. Studios shouldn't be lazy with writing and make a sequel, not a remake.

The only way I think it's relevant to make a remake is if the original vision of the game could not be achieved with the technology of the time. And, even then, it should be a rather old game to meet that requirement - like a remake of the first three Elder Scrolls games or Max Payne.
