For me Nintendo first party developed games always have the least bugs, best gameplay mechanics and smoothest controls, also I want to give a shout out to ID software for the Doom franchise which I think is mechanically great.

Surprised you said Nintendo..graphically their games are the least impressive and Breath of the Wild had very noticeable frame rate drops at times.
Sony games are usually very well done. Xbox.. well, they don't have games at the moment 😆
The only reason why Nintendo games might look like they're the most polished, is because their games look like they're from 15 years ago. How hard is it to polish a game world that has nothing else going for it but simple geometric shapes and colors? Then you compare that to something like The Last Of Us 2 or RDR2, both of which were clearly impossible not so long ago.
Its like somebody asked you to draw a circle on a piece of paper, and another person asked you to build a rocket engine. Which one do you think is more difficult? Which one is easier to mess up? Yeaa... Nintendo "polish" for ya.
Valve.
They call it "Valve Time" for a reason. Those guys playtest like they're training for an Olympics event.

BOTW has the deepest use of physics, world interactivity and polish we've ever seen in an open world game.
Everything else is jank in comparison.
This is why it scored higher than all of your favorite games ;)
Also, even when Nintendo had the best hardware like the N64, they still had the most polished games.
It's because they have more talent than everyone else. Nothing to do with hardware.

Oh shit, yeah, Valve. I forgot about them.

That's the kind of answer i would've expected from @KBFloYd lol
Say what you want but it's no coincidence that Nintendo games dominate the all time metacritic top 10.
Their games are mechanically sublime and ridculously polished and bug free.
This company is so good they created a wave simulator 20 years ago that has better wave physics interaction than anything seen in any game since.
Yeah, Nintendo is definitely among the best in terms of releasing extremely polished games.
Not really sure where you're going with the mechanics/controls bit. A lot of their games are great in that regard, sure, cosign on Doom as well. Buuuut so are plenty of other games, some of which are every bit as polished even with a deeper set of mechanics.
End of the day, one doesn't necessarily inform the other. Ninja Gaiden 2 has some of the best combat mechanics and controls in action gaming, but is far from polished and feels straight up unfinished in sections. On the flip side, could rattle off a list of games that are polished to a sheen and have unremarkable mechanics.
Just muddies the convo really.
@girlusocrazy: it does, lots especially with the teleportation mechanics during combat which just doesnt work well. FFXV story is very unfinished even if you play the complete version of the story (all the updates and DLC). Will still notices a lot of missing plots like why some characters suddenly become party member for a time and why spoiler alert noctis suddenly timeskips 10 years later near the end of the game.
Nobody mentioned Ubisoft. I think we can all agree on the fact that if their games were a buggy mess, "Ubisoft Originals" wouldn't be a thing. So please, somebody needs to give em a bone or something. They are the creators of Assassin's Creed, be respectful.
