With more exclusives down the road because of owning more studios now I definitely think it's possible, but if it does I think it will be heavily back loaded after a slow initial adoption rate. This could actually play to their favor as I said before since it is likely they will kind of have a 2nd release (in the consumers eyes) of the same console once the first batch of exclusives hit.
Whether I like this as a consumer or not, it is actually a really good plan.. I give them that. No, I don't like it.. yes, I do get it.
I have had other thoughts on their plan, but another thing I have been thinking of recently is that they probably didn't expect a high early adoption rate either way, and the majority of people want to buy a console after it already has a solid lineup of games, which is a win/win scenario for them.. They continue selling more of their old consoles and a few new ones all while selling a lot more early generation games.
Therefore, until then they will have higher amounts of software sold on their tried and true franchises and they can bring the new IPs once they are ready to go exclusive and they have a higher attachment rate by that time.
The games weren't ready, and they wanted more than just what they already had.. This way they still sell those established franchises at a higher rate, and people will buy them again/for the first time once true exclusives launch a couple years later.
This has to be their thinking.. nothing else makes sense.
