Lets have one of this. And please, be completely honest about something without resorting to fanboyism (near impossible here but still worth the shot...)

Mine is that... Destiny is a better franchise than Halo

Last year I bought the MCC on Steam and played all the Halo games one after the other (with the exception of Halo 5 wich I hear isnt very good). Its a fun series with a very good OST but... and this is my 100% honest opinion, I was kinda disapointed after being a big Destiny fan ever since the original game and hearing year after year that Halo was a much better franchise

I think the Destiny world has way more interesting lore and even characters. Outside of the Cortana/Chief relationship and the Arbiter story arch, I seriously didnt care that much about its characters. Halo fans used to sh*t on Destiny story and characters but now with interesting fellas such as the drifter, Osiris, Saint-14, the crow, the spider and previously Cayde-6 I feel more about these characters than anything on Halo. Destiny original story was vague, that I agree with, but Bungie did great in the last couple of years on this front and destiny now has one of the most interesting worlds I've ever seen in gaming.

I also feel Destiny's gameplay is better. There's just something about its weapons and powers that scratch the power fantasy itch like not many other games out there. Halo was fun, but more grounded and slower paced than Destiny

This is my most controversial opinion. Whats yours?

TLOU2 had a good story

Best Nintendo exclusives are on par with A/AA tier Sony exclusives

Breath of the Wild is a 6/10 game that doesn't sell 200k copies if Zelda wasn't on the box.

Xbox has games

Women aren’t worth the trouble.

Probably something Nintendo related... like Tropical Freeze was the last great game they made.

My controversial opinion:

Westerner-based companies on the most part have a negative influence to gaming than Japanese-based companies, such as introducing corporate greed of various forms, focusing more on profits over quality, lowering of product quality, introducing practices that set a bad precedence in the industry such as DLC, and many anti-consumer practices. In fact, most of the most-hated gaming companies (e.g. EA) are from Western countries.

It would have been better off if Western companies do not have the dominant position they currently have in the market as gaming is not leading to a golden age, but actually a gilded age. Also, if the industry one day causes another video game crash liked the one that affected the United States in 1983, it would have a larger effect and Western companies will be responible for it just like they were responsible for the 1983 crash.

Uncharted is the most overrated genre in the world and no serious gamers enjoys it!

Link's Awakening = best game last year

Playstation games are one-and-done weekend movie games.

Technically not controversial because most people outside SW laugh and make fun of this fact.

All FPS are the same and suck. The best xbox exclusive is sunset over drive heck its the only good one everything else on xbox can be played on ps4/ps5 or switch.

The only good games Sonic has ever been on, are all named Super Smash.

Nintendo doesn't deserve the ownership of the Metroid franchise.

Playstation and Nintendo are better than Xbox.

VR is one of the few interesting things in gaming atm.

The Souls series is overrated and Elder Ring is over hyped.

• RE7, RE8 and RE2 remake are only good RE games in series as rest are very overrated.
• Alan wake is best horror game of all time. even more so than RE4.
• STALKER is still best FPS ever made and It wont be surpassed anytime soon.
• Metro is best franchise debut in 10s decade and one of the gaming best trilogy of all time.
• Doom and Doom Eternal are current gen Half life 1 and Half life 2 in terms of quality.
• Crysis despite a good game or somewhat great was not real PC title as it has everything modern console games have including regen health and scripted events and on rail segments.
• Bethesda is best gaming company today as they are only one that publish AAA old school shooters and immersive sim.
• Witcher 3 is by far most overrated game of last gen.
• GTA is by far most overrated franchise of all time and series did not even produce a one single good game.

I have 3 hot takes out of the top of my head:

1.- Women protagonists in games need to be attractive and at least sexualized to a certain degree, female representation is ok, i love women and respect them, but they need to at least concede this for male gamers if the industry expect them to play a woman. It works viceversa as well of course, i have abosolutely no problem with girls going crazy for handsome male characters, we should be able allowed to feel same without any kind scutinity and being called names.

If we are not allowed to be superficial on the world of entretainment, then were?

2.- Halo has been a sterile, boring and creatively bankrupt franchise ever since the first one.

3.- Repetiveness aside, Death Stranding was a good, unique and interesting game.

Japanese games are overhyped, dated products and their success baffles me.

Not racist FYI I love pretty much everything else Japanese I just don't like any Japanese games. I'm sure there's an exception or two but for the most part I just sort of view most Japanese games as dinosaurs. Stale gameplay, technically unimpressive, really terrible art direction, piss-poor overly-dramatic music, and so on.

Yup, I feel you on that although I'm don't have my headset even hooked up the future of VR excites me a million times more then flat screen gaming.

I believe multiple pieces of hardware in a service based industry is ridiculous.

I don't believe propriatery hardware is good for consumers in any way any longer.

Also, uncharted sequels are a disservice to Sony fans and naughty dog as a talented developer. It's such a dreadful gameplay set with so much cinematic filler.

Locking exclusive games on one machine needs to go and its anti-consumer. Sony/Nintendo still does it but at least MS now release their games not on their main console but to PC as well and that's a start.

Quake is the best arena fps ever. Bethesda ruined it with Quake Chumpions.

Praise the sun! To me, there are few games that care about their gameplay more than souls. They're a treat to play

Not sure why anything in gaming would be controversial.

Naughty Dog has only made 1 good game ever.

Games with lesser graphics like Stardew Valley are worth playing.

Top down GTA is better than 3D GTA.

Of course they're worth playing if you're into the genre. There's a reason Stardew is pretty popular. Not a very controversial opinion. You need a round two. Your first attempt wasn't very good.

Probably my opinion that TLoU II was pushing a political agenda.

Most people on these forums are too old to be playing games (me included)

Consoles are lame computers.

AAA industry is largely boring.

Grand Theft Auto V may be the only successful game in history that DESTROYED a company's output

• Batman Arkham Origins is the best Batman game ever made
• DMC 2013 is better then DMC 5 2019
• Max Payne 2 is best in the series
• The golden age of PC gaming died after Crysis
• Mirror's Edge Catalyst is a great game and is underrated
• Silent Hill Shattered Memories is the best in the series
• GTA IV is best in the series even though it lacks the variety of V
• Remember Me 2013 is underrated and deserves a sequel
• L.A. Noire doesn't get enough love and deserves a new game in the series I would love a late 80's or early 90's setting in NYC
• Battlefield 3 although fun at times it was the start of the downfall of the series ever since then it has become more and more like COD

Modern competitive online FPS games are horrible and breed bad behaviour.

Hero shooters are extremely boring.

Single player gaming is more fun than multiplayer.

Cinematic gaming (movie games) are amazing.

Having a good narrative/characters is just as important as having good gameplay.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is nothing more than a mission pack for SMG 1.

Seriously, this pisses off non-Nintendo fans too for some reason.

Fathers are over-rated.

Battle Royal is the worst new game mode that we've seen in a multiplayer game in over 10 years.

Rush from Bad Comapany 2 (and ONLY in BC2) was the best multiplayer experience from any and all Battlefield games.

Mine slapped me. Very mean.

Console Zelda has not been great since Wind Waker. Link's Awakening remake and Link Between Worlds were good.
