Poll Are you buying the $220 Seagate proprietary storage expansion card? (28 votes)

No 54%
Yes 46%

Not buying the card nor am I buying the console at launch (I’m fine with my backlog of gen 8 games and I’ll hold out for the improved revision console in 2023). Proprietary anything is NEVER good for the consumer.

Also that extra $20 in the $220 price is the creamy topping on a crap cake. That’s like the ripoff artist on Craigslist listing their item at $55 when you know they can easily be talked down to $50 or less.

Seeing as Samsung just announced the first SSD that might fit inside the ps5, and that it is more expensive than the proprietary card on the xsx, I'm wondering if you think that is a ripoff too, and if the proprietary solution is always bad for the consumer?

No, but by the time i get the console and would be in need there should be multiple options with multiple prices.

Nope, I'm fine with the space it has for now. Once games reach the 200GB+ range maybe I'll start considering it. Biggest game installed right now is probably Forza Horizon 4. I still play XB1, 360 and OG Xbox games, have about 18 games installed and have 342GB left. FH5, Halo, Back 4 Blood, maybe BF2042 if it doesn't get delayed like the rumors say and MAYYYYBE Vanguard.

Well, since Microsoft Flight Simulator literally took up about a third of my Series S storage..I guess I will buy one soon enough heh. Either that or delete Flight Simulator, but I kind of like being able to explore the entire globe from my living room..so that ain't gonna happen.

Nope. I've got 3 TB of storage already running for it now and I have had no issues managing with that...do not need it.

I actually ordered it since I don't think it will drop to below $200 next month. Plus with Halo Infinite, I need the extra space. Should hold me till the 2TB goes down in price in a few years. I only have like three games installed on my Series S. I have a 5TB external hard drive for backup older games.

I luckily got one last Christmas if I didn't I would have purchased one at some point I think it's essential if you play more than 3 games.

@robert_sparkes: Depends. I’ve got 14 games on mine, including flight sim and war zone with 375gb free. I just shunt them over to HDD if I think I’ll play them later and need the space.

I'm eventually planning on getting the Series S. If the propriety card can add much to my experience, I likely will get one at some point. Maybe in a year or so there will be deals on them.

You kinda have to....

I have one, and that's almost filled up now, too. So.... I won't be buying another one. I'll just delete stuff from now on.

I've got one for my Series X. Also got the best of both worlds as I also have a 2TB SATA SSD in the form of a Crucial MX500 (inside a external USB enclosure) for none Series X titles and my 2TB slow HDD.

The MX 500 is exceptionally speedy on the Series X. Games that can be run on it load at least 50% faster than they do on the slow mechanical hard drive. Fast traveling on open world games like AC Odyssey are around 12 seconds instead of 40 on a HDD.
