I don't think that your analogy holds, precisely for reasons that you yourself point out. Things like clothing are commoditized; games, with a huge initial investment for development and a fairly narrow window in which to earn back their budget and turn their profit, simply are not. I don't understand what you want people to take out of this op-ed; are there actions that you would want to see, like "fewer games being made" or "all games being made much more cheaply and therefore on more of a cell phone game scale"? With a quick glance, I don't see any other alternatives to what the industry is currently doing to deal with the economics of the situation.
May I humbly suggest re-christening the PlayStation Move Sub-Controller the DualChuk 3? I suppose it's inevitable that Sony would want a piece of the Wii pie, but so far, nothing I've seen makes me hunger for it.
