Fury Road, Aliens and The Raid, all excellent. The rest, don't care. Got to have some Jackie in there. Drunken Master II will do.

The move itself, I loved it, it's not on the lvl of Aliens or Alien but it certainly was better than Resurrection, Prometheus and Alien 3. Seeing Walter and David was like seeing what it would be like to have Ash and Bishop in the same movie, Fassbender killed it in this movie as David, which David is up there with Ripley in terms of character for the series, she's the hero and David is the villain.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Ash is David somehow, what with Scott shrinking this universe and sucking dry all the mystery from the original. The scene where David forces himself on Daniels mirrors the scene with Ash and Ripley, as well as David dropping the "perfect organism" line. This is going to be Scott's big twist, I fucking know it is.

That actually sucks. The more popular boards blow no doubt because they attract all of the worst kind of people, but for the more obscure directors and films, it's a good springboard to get your foot into their work from the recommendations of other like-minded folk on the forums, as well as finding films similar to the one being discussed.

It's Villeneuve, so it will probably be a good movie. And if nothing else, with Deakins it will look gorgeous. But I'm not enthusiastic with Ford returning.

And no Vangelis? Get the **** outta here.

Jóhann Jóhannsson is dope. And 2016 Vangelis isn't the same one as the 1980's version lol.

Show me some receipts.

I don't listen to Vangelis other than the Blade Runner OST

That's odd. Classical is almost entirely public domain.

Plus I must have at least 3 music services I use that are free and just come with other things like my amazon service that is free with prime.

Paying for classical music (or almost any music for that matter) is like paying for porn. Who does it?

It depends entirely on the performance whether it is public domain or not. There still exists classical music labels and performance copyright.

I mean, if you consider this to be the same as this, then I can see why you wouldn't care about what performance you listen to, so as long as the correct notes are being played. But for many people, there are subtleties and nuances in different performances that either detracts or adds to the piece. Tempo, dynamics, clarity of line, timbre of instruments, rubato, the not so easily identified emotional resonance of a performance. You *won't*find two performances of the same piece that are exactly alike, even by the same conductor or performer. I have almost 20 cycles of Beethoven's symphonies, and none of them are the same. In fact, I haven't even found what I would consider a perfect cycle in any of them. Even in the same piece, you will find parts that you like in one performance and parts you like in another performance, but finding a unified performance where everything is the best that you've heard is pretty damn rare.

Which is why, even though its a nice set, I don't really care for complete boxsets. It's good for the more obscure pieces that you would never listen to otherwise, but I prefer to collect different performances of the same pieces until I find the one performance that I consider perfect. And even if I never do, the different takes can illuminate different facets of the same piece that I never heard or considered before. It's certainly better than just finding some stock public domain performance and only ever listening to that.

And what streaming service gives you access to Mozart's entire catalogue?
